"Awful lot of blood for just a drubbing," Seli says neutrally.

[Carver Amell]

"I-- it must be Miki's, they, this kid had a knife and, I couldn't, he went for Miki and I couldn't let.. let..." His voice sounds small, hollow, but his eyes prick with tears. 

[Tethras Clan]

"Miki? Where is Miki? How badly was he cut?" Wynne asks, voice firm, demanding an answer right now, thank you.

[Carver Amell]

"I, I don't know, Niko and Don took him. I guess to see their healer."

[Bethany]

"They're catfolk, brothers and a cousin I think? Don does odd jobs for temples near Carver's and they got to talking one day and- gods, this isn't important. Packbrother, what happened? Why did Miki get cut?" Bethany asks, trying not to cry. Gods, this is because that stupid gang, isn't it? Damnit Carver, I knew this was- why do you have to still hang out with them?

[Carver Amell]

"Don and Ari are siblings. Niko and Miki are, are, they're all related, cats, they, I--" he shakes his head. "We ran into some kids near the market, they jumped Niko so we went to help."

[Tethras Clan]

Wynne's eyes narrow a little. "Very good of you, to go to the defence of your friends that way. Any idea what started the fight?" she asks, tone unchanged from her demands about Miki's health. 

"It looks like- your trousers are cut and there's blood but I don't see a cut?" Seli reports, sitting back on her heels. "Almost- Bethany, did you heal him?"

[Bethany]

Bethany starts to deny it, then pauses, eyes widening even more "I... I think I did! I cast a heal spell! Carver, did I say the words? Did I do it right?"

[Carver Amell]

"I-- I felt-- you were-- I think so. You did something. I... my pants are torn?" He looks down, stunned. "Oh."

[Bethany]

"But did I say the invocation?" Bethany presses. Did I really heal this time or was it just wish and luck again? Am I a real healer?

[Carver Amell]

"I don't know, I-- I felt like I was home, all of a sudden, when you touched me. You said... something. Something not in common."

[Tethras Clan]

"That was likely the invocation then," Wynne says, patting Bethany on the shoulder. "Well down, student. Your first intentional healing." And even if it was not, then having the confidence of thinking she's done it will help. "It will be easier now to do it again." Bethany flushes with pride and happiness and is thus distracted when Wynne comments to Carver, "it was good your group was ready for a fight like this. It might have gone worse otherwise."

[Carver Amell]

"We, we weren't? We weren't. They had a knife, I thought it was just a fistfight!" 

[Tethras Clan]

Seli clucks her tongue. "Did you recognize any of them? Especially the one with the knife?"

[Carver Amell]

He shakes his head. "No. They were strangers. Maybe they know Niko but I doubt it."
