Go Down

Bethany

"Yep." She shrugs. "Anyway though, we should be going."

Carver Amell

"Right! Sorry!" He double-times it, though he slows rapidly. "Wait, where is this place again?"

This place turns out to be a little clinic in Coalside, not far from Cattown. The front door is clearly newer than the rest of the little stone building, but there's a bell above the door that makes it sound like any shop in the Bazaar to walk into. The chairs are old, showing signs of wear, but the floor in the reception is spotless, and there's a little desk up front where you can sign in for your appointment before having a seat. Bethany signs them in, checking 'first-time patient' in the little checkbox, and they sit down to wait.

The wait isn't long. A human man comes to call each name from the ledger, ushering them back into the rear of the clinic before returning them a few moments later. There's a curtain hanging to provide some privacy, and the wall separating front from back seems new and temporary, but overall, it's not a bad little clinic. Not by a long shot.

When Bethany is called back, Carver stands with her, dutifully dogging her steps as she heads for the... nurse? Doctor?

Bethany

"Hi," Bethany says a bit nervously. Never really been to a healer before, much less for... this sort of thing. Healer Bridget was much more of a 'bother me when you're puking or bleeding' sort. "I'm Beth... umm, new patient?"

GamesMaster

"Hi Beth," replies the strawberry blond, holding out a hand to shake. "I'm Anders, I'm the healer here at this clinic."

"Carver," says Carver, eyeing the guy.

"Good to meet you, Carver. If you'll both come right this way," he adds, ushering them back into the back area of the clinic.

Here, the low-budget trend continues. There is a cheap cot, rather than a bed or table; in the corner is a desk and filing cabinets, making it clear he does paperwork here in the evenings if he doesn't just plain live here. There are trunks and boxes lining the walls, but he gestures them to sit on the cot, pulling the desk chair over to where one more chair already sits, making plenty of seating for them both. "What can I do for you two? Since you're new here, I'll point out that whatever the problem is, I won't judge you or turn you away for it. Anything you need to tell me is in strict confidence, even if the guard or your parents come and ask me point-blank." He looks at them, expectantly.

Bethany

Bethany gives Carver a pleased look, glad that Carver is being calm about things and that Anders is as reputed. So far at least. "Ummm. Well. I... need a basic health check to start. And... whatever stuff a person should-do-about-being-super-sexually-active."

GamesMaster

Anders nods, his smile still in place. "That's not a problem. I can run down your basic physical, and we can talk about your options. Do you have any specific complaints so far? Missed periods, unusual discharge, burning, itching?"

Carver Amell

Carver blanches, looking like he'd much rather be elsewhere.

Bethany

Glancing at her twin, Beth smiles faintly. "Maybe you should... watch the door?" she suggests gently, patting his arm. Where you can at least pretend to not hear this? "And, um, no, none of that. Wait, there are diseases that can stop your periods? What else does it do because I wouldn't mind that part..."

Carver Amell

Carver scrambles up for the curtain divider, not wanting any part of this bit.

GamesMaster

"Not diseases, per se, but unwanted pregnancy is also something I can help sort out." The strawberry blond remains patient, smiling gently.

Bethany

Bethany stares a moment, then her eyes widen. "Oh! No! I'm- I'm lesbian. Carver's my brother not my-" She looks a bit nauseous at the idea, to be frank. "I'm certainly not... that. Or sick, almost sure. I've only... my only, uh, partner gets checked out pretty off. Like I need to, starting in a few weeks. For, you know, work."

GamesMaster

"Aah." His smile doesn't falter. "I understand your circumstances. Yes, I do that sort of testing as well. I'll give you a complete workup, and I assume you'll want a bill of health?" he asks, moving toward the desk. "I'll get that prepared for you to show your, ah, boss, clearing you for work duties. There'll be some literature in there for you, feel free to come back if you have any questions about anything you see in your results or in the reading, I'm always happy to help."

He collects some spit and piss in vials, adding to them alchemical powders, then checks her breathing, heart, and lungs while they wait for the powders to do their business. Aside from the alchemy, this is routine to her and Carver: they used to get checked out by the village healer every year growing up, after all. When the vials all turn blue, he fills out what's clearly a standard form indicating the results for her to give to her "boss", then adds a pamphlet for her and hands them over. "Pleasure meeting you, Bethany. Carver, do you need the same?"

Carver Amell

"What? No. I'm just -- I'm just guarding." He hasn't turned around, not since he moved over to the curtain.

Bethany

Beth smirks a little, looking amused at the hints of red she can see on Carvers neck from behind. "Carver's a bit protective so he wanted to walk me here, just to... well, no offense but you are a stranger and this is..." She trails off, blushing a little herself. "Kind of vulnerable?"

GamesMaster

"No more than your new job," he says, his voice too mild.
