"So I should... get a bigger fence to put around Beth for next time?"

[Varric]

"Might be easier to just chain her up in the basement and no I'm not serious you can't do that," Varric says flatly.

[Carver Amell]

He flinches. "I'm not that bad. I don't know. He's... He's just wrong. Like, what are those plants Helene was talking about, that put out a nice smell to lure in bugs and then the bugs die and get eaten alive."

[Varric]

"...some kind of dish or drinking vessel," Varric says automatically. Still not a nature dwarf. "But how is he like a lure plant? I have looked into him, he's actually just nice. Good record with the guard, no rumors with any weight to them about misbehavior. Most of it is just about him being in a triad and that's not something to really bitch about."

[Carver Amell]

"He's a tiefling, though. Demons can be like that -- real pretty so they put you off your guard and then next thing you know, bam, they have your soul."

[Varric]

Varric sighs a little. "Yes, but he also might just be pretty. Without the 'wham, no soul' part. Because demons aren't like that, not to this extend. Demons don't run five decade long cons, not without a steady payout. They don't have the willpower to stay clean."

[Carver Amell]

"Guys shouldn't be pretty," mutters Carver.

[Varric]

Varric tilts his head. Wait a minute... "Is Andy the only guy you've seen that's pretty?" he asks carefully.

[Carver Amell]

"Like that yeah."

[Varric]

"How about, uh, normal levels of pretty?"

[Carver Amell]

"I don't know. Guys aren't like that." He blinks. "Are they?"

[Varric]

"From what I understand, yes, some guys are pretty. Most of them are handsome, I think, but there's all kinds," Varric replies with a shrug.

[Carver Amell]

He makes a face. "It's wrong. Unnatural."

[Varric]

"...men being attractive it wrong?" Not a fan personally but...

[Carver Amell]

"I mean, girls like them and whatever," he points out. "but Andy looks... pretty. Like a girl pretty. That's obviously meant to tempt guys."
