[Carver Amell]

"When are we going?"

[Varric]

"At least a month," Varric replies. "I'm in the middle of some tricky stuff and i can't break off right now. Probably six weeks, should be able to tag along with a caravan around then, at least heading to."

[Carver Amell]

Carver nods. "Good. I won't get in trouble, then."

[Varric]

Varric tilts his head, then winces. "Right, Lt. Lawful." He squares his shoulders. "I'll explain it to her. My idea."

[Carver Amell]

Carver nods. "Okay. She thinks I'm not dedicated so if you could tell her I am, that'd be great."

[Bethany]

Bethany snickers. "Not sure it works like that," she puts in, giggling. "Most teachers take what parents say about their kids with a bit of salt, you know?"

[Varric]

Actually... come to think of it... "I, uh, about that. Noticed you've decided that... well, noticed you calling me that a few times like your sister..."

[Carver Amell]

Carver flushes a touch. "It's just... I only didn't before because... Well, it's more, some of the guys at the Vangal temple have two dads, right, and, I guess, if that's a thing... I don't want to forget about my father, but maybe, it'd be nice I guess to have a parent that's not shit, and... and anyway, that stuff you were saying about Dwarves and adoption and all just kind of makes sense, I guess."

[Varric]

"That's fine. Just fine," Varric says gruffly. "Do uh, do either- would either of you... Want that? Officially, I mean. Rather than just being your legal guardian."

[Carver Amell]

Carver shrugs a shoulder. "...Ask me again after I talk to my father?"

[Bethany]

"I would," Bethany says. "Probably," she corrects herself, eyes darting to Carver. "Maybe afterwards, yeah."

[Varric]

"Fair enough," Varric says easily, a smile hinted on his lips. "So... Golden Green. It's a protectorate, so same basic laws and such, but it's run by Elders and the entire place is... staid. So assume you're always in front of a grandmother basically."

[Carver Amell]

Carver frowns. "I never had a grandmother."

[Bethany]

"I think he just means we have to be polite, quiet and such, like when Widow Sumas visited," Bethany explains. 

[Varric]

"And you do have a grandmother, even if you've never met," Varric reminds him.
