Imprints in Stone [AU]

[Bethany]

"You tried to kill yourself!" she shouts at him, then bursts into sobs.

[Carver Amell]

"I didn't! I swear I didn't! I didn't ever, I wouldn't, I didn't!"

[Bethany]

"You- you cut yourself! Inner thigh, right above the femoral artery! Half inch deeper and you'd have bleed out in less than a minute!" Her rate of speech increases as she goes, even as her enunciation decreases. 

[Carver Amell]

"I-- I would?" he asks, pulling back, looking pale. "I didn't mean to-- I really didn't! I wasn't trying to-- I've done it before, just a little nick, it helps, I promise, I wasn't trying to..."

[Bethany]

And then her emotions swing back to anger and she's smacking him on the chest. Not that it hurts him all the much but he's still not likely enjoying it. "Stupid, idiot, reckless- why would do that?"

[Carver Amell]

"I'm sorry," he says quietly. "I'm stupid and I'm garbage and I'm horrible, I'm so sorry." His voice cracks into a sob, and he hangs his head again, letting her hit him.

[Bethany]

"Don't say that about yourself!" she flares at him, grabbing his chin to yank his gaze back to her. "I love you damnit, I can't-"

[Carver Amell]

He looks through her, his eyes hollow, broken. "You said it," he says quietly. "I'm stupid."

[Bethany]

Beth shakes her head wildly. "No, you did something stupid and reckless and dumb. You're just... Carver," she says in a tired voice. "You're stubborn and don't ask for help and just... you try so damn hard to take care of things yourself and..."

[Carver Amell]

Carver pulls back, looking down at his lap. "I hurt you. I'm sorry."

[Bethany]

"You hurt yourself," Bethany says firmly. "And me, yes, but Carver... why did you... why would you do this instead of... asking for help or..." She frowns. "Merrill convinced you to do it, didn't she?"

[Carver Amell]

Carver says nothing, staring at his lap. 

[Bethany]

Her eyes narrow and she scowls. "I'll have a talk with her, if dad even lets her stay," Bethany hisses.

[Carver Amell]

He shudders, but says nothing, hunching his shoulders a bit more.

[Bethany]

Bethany takes a deep breath, trying to calm herself. "We should get you cleaned up. And, uh, pants."
