OOC: The Epic Peasant

I just started a new story, The Epic Peasant.  The premise is pretty simple: our protagonist Ascended To A Higher Plane Of Existence, a feat that requires one to become epic level... and then found out that this new existence is full of epic-level people from across the Multiverse who have also ascended, and was very disappointed to learn that, as The Incredibles put it, when everyone is special, no one is.  Rather than ruling the roost, our protagonist is The Newbie, just barely into epic levels, where the truly powerful folks by this realm's measure are hundreds of levels higher.

Looking to build a story about people who would otherwise be ultimate-level adventurers, relegated to the status of peasants and commoners in a realm filled with people even more overpowered than themselves.  Just to be clear, no one has been de-powered, and there are no "ordinary-level" people around.  (Not even little children.  Complete sterility is an unfortunate side-effect of the Ascension process.)  The power level of everything is scaled way up, including the local wildlife... but there are still ordinary, menial tasks to be done, and someone has to do them. And those people aren't particularly happy about it.

I was talking this over with @Kaelas this morning, and the biggest problem I think I'll have is making my character powerful enough lol. I tend to get nervous about making characters too OP.

Consider this license to throw all such inhibitions away.  Go wild, make the most 1337 character you've ever dreamed of.  What could possibly go wrong?

I mean, I don't dream that big really, lol. Trying to make characters more powerful makes me nervous. So I'll have to think hard about it

Was thinking about bringing in one of my favorite toons, Lance. He'd be used to only power but fame: he walks into a town and people want his autograph, want to be able to say they shook his hand, etc. He ascended when he was getting too old to keep up the lifestyle and would now be essentially a washed-up, has-been rock star trying to fit in with normal people. I'm thinking uh... probably the best thing to adapt to my power level difficulty would be to have some kind of BS power like, The Power Cosmic, or something, where it's one of those very mcguffiny powers. So when I inevitably underplay it I can ask for help ramping it up ^^
