Carver Amell

He blushes, adding, "Well, I ask for Vangal's help because if I do it on my own I'm bound to fuck up."

Bethany

"That's why He gave you sisters," she says with a straight face, patting his hand.

Carver Amell

Carver barks a small laugh, but a real one, his gloom lessening significantly.

They put together a plan of action and set back out, Carver and Beth heading right for Leandra's room to pay their visit before they'll be needed for their next tasks. Carver hesitates juts before opening the door, but he steels himself, pushing it open and poking his head into the room.

"Mother?" he asks gently, hoping she's awake.

NPCs

The room is dimly lit, only a single, small fairy light glimmering on the wall furthest from the bed. There's a sconce near bed that could be lit even with Leandra being restrained. Presumably, she's trying to sleep? She doesn't respond to Carver's soft call at least and there is a bundled figure on the bed. Leandra always did take cold poorly, sleeping with a heavy blanket even during the summers.
We are many. We are legion. We are... NPCs!

Carver Amell

Carver glances back to Beth, then calls again, louder, "Mother? I've brought someone to see you."

Bethany

Hovering close to her brother, Beth frets at her lip. Clearing her throat, she calls, "Leandra? Are you..." I hate asking if people are awake. Feels like such a silly question. "Up for visitors?"

NPCs

Straining his ears, Carver hears a soft whimper coming from the bed but no other response.
We are many. We are legion. We are... NPCs!

Carver Amell

"Stay here," he says quietly, then moves forward, toward her bedside. "Mother?" he asks again.

Bethany

Beth scowls, moving to fill the doorway almost as if to prove he can't boss her around. But she doesn't go any further in at least, because she does respect his judgement.

Leandra Hawke ne Amell

Closer now, he can clearly hear her rapid, strained breaths and frequent whimpers. Asleep, yes, but also caught in a nightmare. Hopefully just a nightmare...

Carver Amell

He reaches forward, then, gently stroking the side of her face, hoping to soothe and awaken her. "Shh, hey, it's alright. It's alright, Mother."

Leandra Hawke ne Amell

Leandra lets out a shocked gasp, eyes snapping open, and she jerks against her restraints. "-promised, you prom-" She cuts off, panting heavily as she stares blankly at Carver. After a heartbeat of silence, she whispers, "C-Carver?"

Carver Amell

"It's me, Mother," he says softly. "Are you up for visitors? I... I brought someone."

Leandra Hawke ne Amell

"You- your sisters- are they-"

Carver Amell

"They're safe," he says firmly. "Everyone's safe, Mother. I promise. I checked."
