Blood from Stone [AU]

[Varric]

"Did?" Varric pleads, voice cracking.

[Carver Amell]

"I... I don't know," admits Carver, hesitantly. "Helene's nonverbal right now, it was hard to... Ne sent us here right away. Said you were still in the house, so we rushed to find you. How long have you been down here?"

[Varric]

Varric struggles for a moment, then offers a weak, "ball." He swallows painfully. "See'lene. Plea."

[Tethras Clan]

"We need to get him cleaned up, dry and warm," Aveline says softly. Approaching with diffidence, Kevin offers a somewhat musty folded, cotton tablecloth to Carver. 

[Carver Amell]

"The ball? That's been nearly..." He frowns "Two days, only? Vangal, it feels like a week at least." 

Carver gives Aveline a small nod. "C'mon, Dad. We'll get you up to the infirmary with the others. Helene can visit you there." 

[Tethras Clan]

Varric glares at Carver, a clear demand for explanations and answers. Carefully not smiling, Aveline says evenly, "Merrill and Beth both are free to check you over." She pauses then at Varric's flinch. Why would- oh. Shame. I suppose this would be... very hard for someone as proud as Varric. And for his daughters to be the ones treating him? "They can just do a quick check and maybe a cast or two, until... who is your personal healer?" 

[Varric]

"Me."

[Tethras Clan]

Aveline sighs a little, looking upwards as if praying for patience and help.

[Carver Amell]

"Then Beth can look you over," says Carver, firmly. "I'll send Si-- ah, Glimmerwing to fetch some underthings before she does, but you're going to be seen by a healer and she-- she's the only one I know for sure has spells left," he admits, his voice a crack. "It's all gone to hell, Dad. I, I should warn you, Don's... Don's in a bad way, upstairs, and Silence is hurt too. Helene's been nonverbal all day, Liz is missing, we didn't even realize you'd gone missing because we've been run so ragged. I'm sorry. I should have notice, but I didn't."

[Varric]

Varric swallows, looking sick. After a moment, he manages, "'allen. Mal- Mmm."

[Tethras Clan]

"Vallen? Me? I've no healer-" Varric manages to shake his head a little, making her pause a moment. "Not the healing? Then... Ah. Dressing you." A faint nod. Right. Because he'd rather a stranger than family. I suppose I can understand that, wanting it to be clinical and professional. "Of course. Just... Won't be the first time I had to clean up after a noble in disarray."

[Carver Amell]

Carver pales, then, suddenly, one of the similarities he was trying not to notice popping up. "Dad, I... there are similarities, between, when I found Don he was... I'll just be blunt - did they, ah, did they try to... did they.."

He swallows, feeling sick. "Don's been neutered," he says, starting again. 

[Varric]

Varric shakes his head a little. "'and." Impossible to really tell what he means, given the way the chains are covering his hands and feet especially. The amount of dried blood on the chains covering his right hand is... worrying however. 

[Tethras Clan]

Aveline frowns, then her eyes widen. "Gods. Your ring. Bartrand was wearing it. The only way it comes off is unless you remove it yourself... is with another Light or Captain to use their ring. Otherwise..."

[Carver Amell]

Carver nods. "Alright. Three regenerations. I'm sure Dad can pay for that."

He hesitates, looking down at the chains. If I take them off enough for him to walk, he'll be totally exposed. "I'll carry him upstairs. Aveline, get Helene and Bartrand up to the infirmary, we'll use the chains to bind him before he wakes. Kevin, can you tell Merrill Dad needs clothes? There might be some here, but likely she'll have to send Glim home to get underthings."
