"They don't work," she snaps. "I don't have time for this."

Bethany

"Time? What do you mean? What kind of deadline do you have?" A note of bewilderment has slipped into her voice along with the annoyance, frustration, disappointment and embarrassment.

GamesMaster

"Just -- just time," she snarls, leaning more on her hand braced against the wall. "I'm dying, I need something now."

Bethany

Beth growls softly, steps closer and grabs Bri by the back of the neck. "Don't be absurd," she snaps. "You're not dying any more than every other mortal."

GamesMaster

"You don't understand," she whines, tail lashing. "My heart-- and I can barely breathe -- and I keep vomiting --"

Marian Hawke

"It's just the DTs," says Liz gently.
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Bethany

Bethany manages to hide most of her flinch at Liz's too... understanding words, by putting some of the motion into shaking Bri. "Then ask for help, dumbass. A minor restoration spell will set your body back to rights, let you have a rest." As a significant portion of withdraw is mental, an ex-junkie has to fight through the cravings with their own willpower in the end. But magic can temporarily halt the cravings, for a day or two, to allow them to recover their motivation. Well, one could use mind magics to forcibly remove, blunt or redirect the mental aspect as well, but that often has side effects and is considered highly invasive and immoral by most.

GamesMaster

"How was I meant to find you?" she snarls. "I didn' know you was real, even."

Bethany

"What do..." Beth huffs loudly. Gods ab- Tooth and claw, how out of it were you? "Maybe you could have come to my house? I know you know were it is, both of them, as you've been to both. Whatever. Let's go get the things from the inn and head to the apartment. "Oh, right. This is my sister Liz. Liz, this is Bri."

GamesMaster

"Apartment?" Bri cuts in, before Liz can speak.

Marian Hawke

She's being hit hard by that withdrawal, Liz tells herself -- or rather, Ruby tells Liz. Give her a minute.
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Bethany

"...right, of course. If you barely recalled me, then why would..." Beth sighs, letting go of Bri. "Yes, apartment. I'm moving in with Don and the rest of the Bandanas. The building is out of Cattown, but just on the edge, in the racist ring." That being the name the catfolk give to the group of landlords and companies that own the property around Cattown and flat out refuse to sell regardless of price, often for the most suspect of excuses. "We have the room and... you're a Bandana. So... yeah."

GamesMaster

"Kh," she says, eyes narrowing. "I was never a Bandanna."

Bethany

"I have pull with the leader, so..." Beth smiles wanly. "Anyway, in case you were wondering? The offer for free music lessons and what you need for them was also real."

GamesMaster

"Music lessons," she says, in a softer tone.
