Go Down

Leandra Hawke ne Amell

A desperately relieved sob tears itself out of her chest and she tries to embrace Carver but there's not enough slack for that much movement. "My son, you're okay, you're safe, it's really you, Carver, my boy is safe, thanks Astea, thank Her." Carver has never heard his mother sound like this. So... small and lost. Not even after Golden Shores. Then again... he doesn't really remember a lot of that trip to Nyra, or the time right after. And then there was the trouble with Beth.

Carver Amell

Carver reaches down, gently stroking her cheek. "What's happened, Mother?" he asks softly. "Nightmares? Or something more?"

NPCs

"The restraints are just buckles," Wynne murmurs softly.
We are many. We are legion. We are... NPCs!

Leandra Hawke ne Amell

His mother sobs again, eyes closing tightly. "Not a dream. It was real, so very real. He- no, it was so very real. It said that- that it had you. All my babies. It showed me- oh Carver, we have to save them, we have to-"

Carver Amell

"Beth? Marian? It has them?" he asks, then shakes his head. "No, it's-- it was a dream, mother. Just a dream. You're safe. I just saw Beth yesterday. We're all safe. I promise you."

Leandra Hawke ne Amell

Eyes snapping open, she stares at him desperately. "Are you sure? Sure it was her? Really her? You're sure?"

Carver Amell

"On my honor," he swears. "On my life. Beth is safe, or was last night. I'll go right to her from here, to make sure she's still safe as houses."

Leandra Hawke ne Amell

She sags, relief clear on her face. "Oh thank you. Oh Carver thank you. You've always tried so hard to look after us all." Stiffening, she looks at him with worry. "You said Beth. What about Marian? Is Marian okay? Have you seen her?"

Carver Amell

Carver takes a deep breath, the air catching in his throat. For better or worse, he hadn't chosen to tell his mother about Marian's miraculous recovery -- and yet...

"Yeah, mum," he says quietly. "She's fine too. With Beth and Dad."

Leandra Hawke ne Amell

"Dad? You- oh. The dwarf." She still hasn't entirely let go of her grudge, but she doesn't bitch about him anymore at least. "...good then. Good. Thank you Carver. Thank you. You have to keep them safe. You can't let it take them. It- it said so many terrible things. Did- did- Oh Carver, it- it-" She breaks down again, sobbing wildly.

Carver Amell

"Shh, shh, it's okay mum. I swear it's okay. We'll make it okay, alright? We'll get you free. Not to worry. We'll get you free." He strokes her hair gently, leaving the restraints, trying to calm her down. "I won't leave you. I swear."

Leandra Hawke ne Amell

She embraces him as best she can while still bound. Still crying, she pleads with him in a low whisper. "Can... can you get them to come? I- I want to see them. I need... I need to see them safe. Please... I don't care of they hate me still, for failing them, I just need to see they're safe."

Carver Amell

"Yeah, mum. I'll ask them to come see you," he whispers, then plants a kiss on her cheek. "I'll go ask them now, okay?"

Leandra Hawke ne Amell

"Be safe. Promise me you'll stay safe. Bring-" She licks her lips, eyes filling with pain. "Get silver and cold iron," she whispers. "And you keep your Vangal close. Promise me. Stay with Him. Promise."

Carver Amell

"I will, Mum," he says gently. "I know. You don't have to worry about me, okay? Don't worry."

Then he pulls back, heading toward Wynne, tears flooding his eyes as soon as he looks away. He doesn't say a word to her as he heads for the door, just shakes his head once; he waits for her to follow him out, a little down the hall, letting her catch up before he speaks softly.

"Get someone who can break a curse," he says quietly. "If that doesn't work, we'll need an exorcist. I've seen this before, with the guard. Before she woke, was she asleep too long? Way too long maybe? A sleep you couldn't wake her from?"
