Go Down

Carver Amell

She shakes her head. "I'm sure he didn't mean to. He's so gentle, so kind. So considerate. Please, just give him a chance. He makes me happy -- or, he will, once you fix me."

Bethany

Wait, fix- "Car, I told you! This isn't a cure!"

Carver Amell

She shakes her head. "No, I know it isn't. But it's working, temporarily. You're so smart and talented, Beth, I know you can figure it out. You can find a way to fix me and then we can all be happy."

Bethany

Beth steps back, rubbing her temples, "Okay, noting this reaction down," she mutters. "Car, I need you to focus. Yay for hope and all, but try and stay with me in the here and now. It's supposed to counter despair, not... reverse it..." I wonder... maybe it's because she's been without for so long? Like feasting after famine?

Carver Amell

Carol shakes her head, trying to focus. "Sorry," she says, taking a deep breath. "What did you want to talk about?"

Bethany

I... fuck. I don't know if I should anymore... "I... I want to share things with you. Secrets and plans and... But I don't want to make you decide between being loyal to me or Jadan and Mother."

Carver Amell

Carol shakes her head. "You don't have to worry about Mother. If I have to choose, it's you every time. But Jadan, I can't leave him. I won't. He's so good for me."

Bethany

Better than me, you mean. Even though... "And he listens to her. You listen to him. So... so I can't..." Trust you. Not anymore. Not until I break you free of him.

Carver Amell

"Then, what can I do? How can I help you?"

Bethany

Beth is silent a moment, studying her hands. "If... A promise. Or... a bargain, I suppose," she says slowly. "If... if I ever vanish, you'll go to Ray Lightsong or Lady Shannon. Before Jadan. I-  I won't ask you not to go after, just... make sure one or both of them know. So they can look for me." And just in case it was me running without being able to leave word. "And- and if I leave without telling you, in person, don't trust whatever you are told. I swear to you, I swear in the name of every Bright Gods, on my soul, on our bond as twins, that I will not go without talking to you first. Not willingly. So if I do... I was taken and need your help. Please."

Carver Amell

Carol nods. "Alright. Alright, I'll do that. But I will tell Jadan after. If you're ever taken by, by someone bad, he'll be able to help me get you back."

Bethany

Beth sags, a pool of deep relief welling inside her. "Thank you. Thank you, ma'win. That is... A great relief. And... In the meantime, I will try to improve on this. And I can redo it every night before bed if I can."

She frowns, not wanting to give Carol false hope but... It needs to be said. For more than one reason really. "As for Jadan... I will.. try. I'll try to spend some time with him and.. see if I can see whatever it is you see in him." So I can stop it anyway.

Carver Amell

"Thank you," urges Carol. "Whatever you see in him, I'm certain it's incorrect. Just try to keep your mind open and truly see him as he is."

Bethany

Beth's smile turns a bit sickly. This is going to end in tears. "Of  course. Do... Do you want to have a sleepover? I have sleep spells to, come to think of it."

Carver Amell

"Yes, alright," she says, with a warm smile. "Let's do that."
