Bethany

"Umm. Well. For one, you don't have an office or... message board?" Beth replies weakly. "But, umm, she's... unvanished now?"

Shisou

"Maybe I should set one up," sighs Shiori. "It seems dangerous to give people a way to contact me."

Bethany

"Maybe you could pay the Downcity to run ads for you? I mean, you pay for the print space and have people be able to come in and submit things? Can't hardly keep track of everyone that subscribes or buys a copy."

Shisou

"Maybe," says Shiori dubiously. "I spend what money I get on my gear mostly. I'm uh... I'm not rich like you, Miss zi'Amell."

Bethany

"I- I know. I..." She blushes, then flinches. "And... were. Rich like you were." I mean, I still have more coin and stuff to pawn than most but not sure if I count as rich anymore.

Shisou

Shiori is quiet for a little bit. "I... know things about being homeless, too. If you need it. For later. Tonight you have somewhere to go and, and maybe it'll all work out anyway."

Bethany

"...yeah. Thank you... Shiori." Beth musters a weak smile. "I... I'm not sure I would have been able to get us to safety if you weren't here."

Shisou

"I'm glad I was here," she says, hesitantly. "So, uh... the fastest path is to cut through Blossom. Have you been to Blossom Park?"

Bethany

Shisou

"What's your favorite part? I really like this one duck pond they have, right -- it doesn't look like much but it's real peaceful."

Bethany

Beth wrinkles her nose. "I'm not overly fond of ducks- bad experience with a swarn when I was only that I heartlessly blame all big water birds for. I prefer the fish pond near the pale yellow bridge on the west end..."

GamesMaster

The conversation doesn't last them all the way to Preacher's Way -- how could it? -- but it leads to another, and then another: light, easy conversation topics, about nail polish and friends they've had and how awful stockings are for combat and all sorts of casual things. Shiori, it seems, is very femme, while Beth can be a bit more butch, but neither of them judge the other for it, instead finding common ground where they can and respecting each other where they can't.

As they approach the temple, Shiori shifts to cradling Carol -- she can't do it for long, but she's stronger than Beth, and that leaves Beth free to knock at the back door and explain they've an emergency for Ray Lightsong to handle. Brianne is up, thankfully -- cats aren't nocturnal, exactly, but they tend to be up later naturally -- and identifies the twins right away, leading all three of them back to Lightsong's quarters so they can sit while she gets the aasimar up.

Bethany

By this point, Beth is half dead on her feet. Between the adrenaline crash, the late hour, the long, tension filled walk and... and others things she's spending a lot of energy not thinking about, she's just... done. Even Lightsong in her nightclothes barely rates a half-hearted glance by the hormone-driven teen, the unmade bed looking far, far more appealing.

Haliel Lightsong

Lightsong swiftly moves to take Carol from the others, her own strength easily capable of lifting the girl and carrying her to the bed. "What's wrong? Is anyone hurt?" she rattles off quickly. She gives Soushi-hime a curious look but doesn't spare her much attention yet.
I am the Light of My Soul.

Shisou

"There's been an incident," says Soushi softly. "Beth was hurt, and Carol was accidentally poisoned by a bad alchemical mixture. They don't have anywhere to go, we were hoping they could spend the night here."
