The Amell Legacy: Transgressions

Started by Marian Hawke, Dec 13, 2018, 07:17 pm

Go Down

Carver Amell

"She wants to take him from me," she whispers. "She wants me to-- I just want to go home, I just want to be with Jadan, why, why is she doing this, why..."

Marian Hawke

"Let her go, then," says Marian, exhausted, watching Shiori chase down Beth. "If she wants to go home so bad, let her. We'll just change our plans so she can't tell."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Haliel Lightsong

"Because he raped her. Miss Carol... She said it under a Truthing so..." Lightsong lifts Carol's chin to their eyes met, ignoring Marian. "Do you think that is okay? Do you not care that he hurt her like that? That he violated her body, broke her trust and and injured her?"

Carver Amell

Carol looks away. "It's not right," she says, finally. "It's not. I know that. But-- but she was trying to break us up for months. She wanted to steal me away and run. She set this up, you heard her, she set it up so he'd do something and-- and he did. And then she cries and carries on and makes a scene and... she wants to turn you all against me, so she can steal me away from Jadan. She's the one who can't let me be happy."

Varric

"Again, doesn't matter. If I leave my windows unlocked and someone steals from me... that doesn't mean the thief is blameless. She accused him of a sex crime- a crime he is guilty of doing. I get that you said yes, whatever, doesn't matter. That. Does. Not. Matter. Full stop, get over it. You don't get to say a crime isn't a crime. Not until you're a Light and even then, you have to get it passed in the Lantern. So get over that. She didn't 'set him up.' She accused him of a crime he was guilty of by your own account."

Carver Amell

"She pushed him! If you tell me every day for a year that I should steal something from you then you're a bad person even if I'm a thief."

Helene Dakesh

Helene clears her throat. "This one has also read narratives about abusers, ah... training someone to think well of them, teaching them how to look at the world so that they are blameless when they take advantage of the victim. It is... not something this one is trained to diagnose. But it is a possibility. In a healthy relationship, after hearing this truth spoken, one would expect to be disgusted and upset with the perpetrator, not the victim."
"Explain. In detail, please and thank you."

Carver Amell

Carol pulls away from Lightsong violently, lunging at Helene. She slaps the Seeker with a wordless cry, but as her hands reach for Seeker's throat, she calls out again, this time in pain, as she stumbles backward, clutching at her head.

Varric

Which doesn't stop Varric from grabbing her by the elbow and throwing her to the ground. His crossbow snaps out and the barrel pressed against her lower back. "Stay down," he snarls.

Carver Amell

No worries -- she doesn't attempt to get up, blood gushing from her nose as she remains limp.

Haliel Lightsong

Lightsong, caught off guard, is a beat behind Carol. She almost slaps Helene herself in her rush to heal, a flood of healing rushing into the Seeker. And then she's squaring off against Varric. "Get off of her," she demands, blade coming out.
I am the Light of My Soul.

Helene Dakesh

Helene stumbles backward, toward Marian, hating the jumble of Someone Else's Thoughts in her head, hating the sensation of it, hating the ability to invade Carol's privacy -- but it's an effective attack, disabling an attacker and letting her get away.
"Explain. In detail, please and thank you."

Haliel Lightsong

"I will guard her, not you. Now move."
I am the Light of My Soul.

Varric

The two exchange a heated glare for a long moment, then Varric spits and moves to look after Helene.
