The Amell Legacy: Transgressions

[Marian Hawke]

"Various Reasons," mutters Marian. "It doesn't matter -- she'd do it, and I can't let that happen. So I ran."

[Helene Dakesh]

"The concept of treatment frightens you that badly?" asks Seeker, sadly. "Regardless, this one has had confirmation that such treatment causes damage to the patient. So this one, without more information, will not advise such."

[Marian Hawke]

"Just suggest it behind my back."

[Helene Dakesh]

"This one was advised this morning."

[Marian Hawke]

"How? We're in the middle of nowh-- oh! you mean Alydra sent you a vision?"

[Helene Dakesh]

"No. This one asked a related question and received wisdom as an answer." Helene glances at Varric, then away. "This one will inquire more in the near future."

[Marian Hawke]

"I see. So you're just suspending the idea until you can find out if Alydra approves of sending me to be tortured."

[Helene Dakesh]

"That is not what this one--"

[Varric]

"Marian," Varric snaps. "Stop trying to make Seeker into your mothe Leandra."

[Marian Hawke]

"I don't have a mother," snarls Marian. "That would require me to be part of a family. Not just some cast-off bastard." 

[Helene Dakesh]

"Marian," says Helene, sounding tired. "Why is this one not believed?"

[Marian Hawke]

"Because you're full of shit! You've never cared about me, you've never approved of me -- you're just trying to impress Varric. You left me without any explanation or any way to find you, you never even said where you were going, just some vague 'this one needs treatment', and I had to find out later you intended to be gone for months. You took me in but when i was inconvenient you just left me alone!"

[Helene Dakesh]

Helene stares at Marian in horror. "This one did not think-- this one intended to come back. This one trusted that you would be able to take care of yourself. This one knew that you were nearly of age, and that you were reliable and self-sufficient. So this one trusted that you would remain when this one returned. This one... this one did not realize that you felt suicidal or this one would have made arrangements. This one did not have all the relevant information."

[Varric]

"Solid points... but you still should have explained to Tabby what was happening. Short-lived Seeker. Short-lived. Even a month is a long time to just vanish, much less a couple of seasons." A pause. "You've never been responsible for someone before, have you?"

[Helene Dakesh]

Helene shakes her head. "This one does not take apprentices. This one cannot have children. This one was a child once, but this one was mostly left to this one's self."
