[NPCs]

"Hundreds," Dau replies promptly.

[Carver Amell]

Three centuries?! Carver throws away his astonishment, jumping on the real question eagerly instead: "Can you fix me?"

[Marian Hawke]

Marian winces. "He wants to be male," she offers. Dau's not going to know what's wrong just by looking.

[NPCs]

Dau inspects Carver for a moment. "...is he not male?" the Daughter asks tentatively.

[Carver Amell]

Carver takes a step back, eyes widening. "I-- no! Can't you-- you can't tell the difference?!"

[NPCs]

"You feel male," Dau says with a shrug. "Need to touch to know shell."

Dutifully, Peli chimes in, "Dau doesn't have eyes. He can see by feeling vibrations in the air and ground, and while touching you, can divine all sorts of things but..." She shrugs. "And your standard demigod bullshit senses obviously."

[Bethany]

"Oh. Yeah that makes sense honestly," Beth says thoughtfully. "No eyes and all."

[Carver Amell]

You feel male.

Carver breaks down then, tears streaming down his cheeks. He reaches for Lightsong's hand, desperate for the closest think in his mind to an adult in their group -- Helene is nice and all, but not exactly parental material.

[Haliel Lightsong]

Haliel quickly moves to pull Carver into a hug, Merrill sandwiching the man between the two women. "Hey, hey," the aasimar says soothingly. "It'll work out, you'll see."

[NPCs]

Dau goes still, waiting patiently for the mortals to explain why all this is happening.

[Bethany]

Beth bites her lip, glancing at Shiori. Should I... no, no need to crowd him, she tells herself as she takes her girlfriend's hand instead. Wait. "Do..." She leans in. "Is... is this something you... might want too?" she murmurs.

[Shisou]

"I...I don't know. Let's find out if there's... side effects or..."

[Carver Amell]

"Yes ,tell him yes," whispers Carver. "I-- he can t-touch me."

[Merrill]

Before Lightsong can agree, Merrill of all people turns to face Dau. "Carver says you can t-touch him so you can help him." She frowns, then adds even more firmly, "near his knee."

[Bethany]

One stutter in that whole thing? Wow, she is seriously stuck on my brother. Poor girl... neither of them are anywhere ready for that sort of thing... Shit. Someone is gonna have to tell them that and it can't be me. Lightsong maybe? She absently nods to Shisou, eyes locked on Carver and Dau.
