The Amell Legacy: Transgressions

[Bethany]

Beth gives her a startled look. "When did you... huh. Guess you paid more attention to lessons than I thought," she says, a note of apology in her voice.

[Carver Amell]

"I-- I hear things, when I'm in a black mood. I don't always understand all of it, but I do hear, I do remember. Just.." He gives a helpless shrug. 

[Aveline Vallen]

Black mood? Battle fatigue? Which she is well aware can come from traumas removed from any traditional battle field. Or Tessaline's Burden? Sounds far too... regular and serious to be just moodiness. "I can ask around the temple and guard. Still put any hires through a Truthing- I can cast a Zone of Truth- but it might yield a better crop than just putting out an ad," Aveline offers. 

[Carver Amell]

Carver nods. "And I'll need a regent, for a while at least." Now he glances at Roland. 

[NPCs]

"Well, you sister won't work I wager, nor-" He breaks off at Beth's giggle. "What?" She just grins at him, letting Carver have it.

[Carver Amell]

"I-- I'm asking you," he says, hesitantly. "If you're interested in the job."

[NPCs]

Roland stares a moment. "I- uh-" He coughs. "So- lad, I'm honored but- hells, are you sure? I'm just a wandering bard, a minstrel really..."

[Bethany]

"You're an adult, and pretty much one of... three, maybe four, that either us trust," Beth offers quietly.

[Carver Amell]

Carver nods. "I don't... have any adults I trust. Maybe dame Lightsong but she's not here. You're... you're basically.... You're basically my grandfather. That's family, close enough. You have a stake in this too. So.. if you think you can do it, play the regent for this little farce, I'd be willing to give you a shot."

[Bethany]

"Zevran and maybe Varric for me, plus her," Beth agrees. "And you. That's it really. Well, I guess Shan, though I don't really think of her as being an adult exactly? She and..." She trails off, realizing she's not entirely sure how old Shisou is. Or Merrill for that matter.

[NPCs]

Roland takes a long breath. "Am I even allowed?" he asks carefully. "Not from Nyra after all."

[Aveline Vallen]

"You're from Golden Green, correct?" At his nod, Aveline confirms it. "They're a protectorate, so yes, you can stand as regent. And... grandfather?" she asks tentatively.

[Bethany]

Beth bites her lip, glancing at Carver in a bid to ask how much he wants to share.

[Carver Amell]

"My-- my mother's first husband's mentor, father figure. Close enough to being a... step-grandparent, or something like. He's been a huge help."

[Aveline Vallen]

Aveline clearly picks up that more is going unsaid, but nods. "Fair." She hesitates, then asks carefully, "before I left, there was... records show that you have an older sister that was sent to Draslina. There were some... hints... that she might have come back to Nyra?"
