''Pimp? Why would- wait, why would...'' Lightsong frowns, the expression more concerned than angry again. ''Miss... umm, sorry, what should I call you?''

"Brianne. That's my name -- Brianne." 

[Haliel Lightsong]

"A pleasure to meet you, Miss Brianne, even with the circumstances. But why do you have a... pimp? Or- oh, are you simply calling your supervisor or manager that?"  Still her voice remains concerned and approachable, though a hint of confusion has slipped in here.

Brianne stares at her a minute, blinking. "Because I'm a whore. How did you think I got cunt pox?"

[Haliel Lightsong]

''Well, I- that is, I do not know the... exact nature of that disease, but the name gives some indication. And your profession is at higher risk than most, simply due to the increased number of... possible infection points? I simply meant- that is, I thought...'' Lightsong's eyes widen as a thought occurs. ''Are you not a church sponsored prostitute?''

She makes that dismissive noise again. "Church? No church runs a brothel," she snorts. "I got a pimp. That's all."

[Haliel Lightsong]

''What? No? Bastion, Astea, Ciren obviously, Teiris, Junon, Naugrix, Kato, Zanon and the Bitch all run brothels. I'm sure that individual temples likely run or sponser brothels as well for other faiths, but I know all of those run fairly sizable organizations,'' Lightsong protests, then falters. ''Well... in Draslina, I mean. Do they... not do that here?''

Brianne laughs. "Not hardly. But they heal whores without askin' complicated questions, unless yer gutter trash like me 'n get caught smokin' deedubs. Of all the stupid things! Deedubs ain't hardly nothin', and' you know the Lord Hand does that mist, but no, deedubs is for cats and kenders so it's illegal."

[Haliel Lightsong]

Deedubs? ''I... gather those are a drug of some kind?'' Lightsong asks neutrally. She seems to be implying they are minor but...

[GamesMaster]

"Yah, yah. Deedubs. Devilweed." She eyes Lightsong critically. "Where are you from, girlie?"

[Haliel Lightsong]

Lightsong flushes. ''Draslina. I... I am only recently from training,'' she confesses. ''I have gone on quests and such but... not alone?'' Devilweed. That is a minor drug. Several of the acolytes use that during their long work gaps. ''But why did she turn you away for that?''

"You heard her. 'clean means clean'. Cunt." She rolls her eyes. 

[Haliel Lightsong]

''But... why?'' Lightsong asks again, then narrows her eyes. ''Are you taking something other than devilweed?''

[GamesMaster]

"I failed my test for Dee-dubs," she says, narrowing her eyes. "that's all. Everything else tested clean. How am I meant to keep the DT's at bay? Nobody buys if i'm shakin', throwin' up. So a little deedubs is the, whats it, lesser of three evils."
