Merrill

"But... but he's... m-more fun. And ch-charming and... can talk to p-people," Merrill mumbles.

Carver Amell

"I'm fun. And charming. And can talk to people. So I don't need all that."

Merrill

Merrill peeks at him more directly, seeming to relax a bit at the assurance. "Really really?"

Carver Amell

"Sure. I like you, Merrill. You're kind. And you can be fun, sometimes. And you like me back, which is... you liked the real me before anyone else ever knew me. You see people that way -- not what they seem to be, but what they are."

Merrill

Merrill smiles shyly at him, then leans over against him. "I like you too," she whispers bashfully. "Really really."

Carver Amell

Carver slides his arm around Merrill's shoulders, cradling her close. "Good. I'm glad."

Merrill

"Do... do you also like Jass really really?" she asks after a minute of silent cuddling.

Carver Amell

"Of course not. Boys don't-- well, he's my friend, that's all."

Merrill

Merrill looks up at him curiously. "Boys don't..?"

Carver Amell

Carver looks away. "I guess some boys do, um, really really like other boys. But I -- I like girls."

Merrill

"But  you said you like Jass and he's a boy. I asked to be sure and he said b-boy. Well, man," Merrill corrects herself dutifully.

Carver Amell

"We're friends," stresses Carver.

Merrill

Merrill hunches her head, but soldiers on, feeling a pressing need to have this out, needing the certainty of having it all said and done with. "...I think he likes you really really," she whispers.

Carver Amell

"Yeah, well..."

Carver hesitates, looking away. "I still want to marry you, so that doesn't matter."

Merrill

"It doesn't?" Merrill asks, brow furrowing.
