NPCs

Lord Sage zi'Cambern falls silent, turning to give a short bow to his senior Light. By his smirk, however, he doesn't mind, pleased enough to have planted the seed he wished.

"Still, he does have a point, however... bluntly it was expressed," Lady zi'Berti points out. "How can we be sure that this is, in fact, the late Lady zi'Amell's child? Captain Vallen, did you witness this... curse breaking occur?"
We are many. We are legion. We are... NPCs!

Aveline Vallen

Hiding a wince, the paladin shakes her head. "It was already complete when I arrived at Raplin's Oak."
The Law cannot protect anyone, if it does not apply to everyone.

Roland

Spotting the delight in the asshole Light's face, Roland clear his throat loudly. "I was there," he says firmly. "Willing to stand to it under a Truthing as well. Got nothing to hide on the matter, thank you all."
How the fuck did this get so out of hand..?

Carver Amell

"Yes, let's have a truthing," agrees Carver.

GamesMaster

"There are ways to fool truthing spells," cautions la'Livingstone, with a frown.

Roland

"And ways to test if those ways are in force," Roland counters. "'sides- I'm no expert on magic, only know a little cantrip or three that any seasoned minstrel picks up, but even I know that those sorts of things need a serious dollop of power or buckets of money to pull off. Where do you figure a couple 'teens would get either of those?"
How the fuck did this get so out of hand..?

NPCs

"I would be happy to assist in the spellcasting," Light zi'Aghayan rasps out.
We are many. We are legion. We are... NPCs!

GamesMaster

"You're assuming that what we perceive is reality," says la'Livingstone. "It is possible these are not teens at all."

Roland

"...you must be a real trip when drunk," Roland mutters, not realizing how... extensive the magically assisted acoustics are on the dias. Clearing his throat, he says louder, "suppose that's true enough, though I suspect y'all can check for that as well. And sure, I'm sure that you're sure that they could trick those ways of being sure, but at some point, you just have to trust that you have in front of you isn't Teris having Herself a giggle."
How the fuck did this get so out of hand..?

Bethany

Beth fights back a giggle of her own at Roland's rebuttal.

GamesMaster

"Quite," sniffs zi'Huntinghawk. "If we're quite finished collecting gossip, perhaps we could focus on the matter at hand?"

GamesMaster

The truthing is cast, and the matter explained: Roland attests to Carver's being Carver, Beth's twin, and even la'Livingstone is forced to let the matter rest at that, for the moment.

Their identities spoken to, and their guardianship established, the Lantern adjourns for the day, extracting a promise from Beth to deliver the facts of the matter of Jadan to the body in writing within two business days. They're free, at last. They're safe. And they're home.

Marian Hawke

Marian wakes in her tent, Haliel by her side. Unlike yesterday, when she greets the aasimar, she doesn't look at her, can't meet her eyes. There's a faint blush on her face; a dream, perhaps? Regardless, she speaks warmly enough to her, and plants a kiss on the other woman's cheek as she gets up to make breakfast.

As they eat, the strangeness continues. She shifts in her seat often, plugging away at her oatmeal methodically, as if her mind is elsewhere. Several times her pant leg shifts oddly, as if something inside is twitching, something not connected to her foot. She doesn't talk much, absently agreeing to what is said. And when Zev and Bela come out, she serves them personally, moving to sit at their feet as she finishes her meal.
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Zevran

"Your log not comfortable this morning?" Zevran asks politely.
Life without Passion is just another form of Slavery.

Marian Hawke

"Just... you know. I spent time with Varric and Haliel yesterday, I wanted to... spend time with you two. A little." She shifts a bit, suppressing the urge to whine.
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.
