Go Down

Marian Hawke

Marian opens her eyes, spying Lightsong's face, with something like a cock in her mouth. Her eyes widen, and she coughs, trying to get the tail out, gagging as it tries to force its way in deeper instead.
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Haliel Lightsong

"Stop," Haliel snaps out, voice suddenly adamantine. "Out of your mouth!" The tail whips clear in an instant, then goes utterly still a few inches off to the side. "Marian?"
I am the Light of My Soul.

Marian Hawke

She coughs a few more times before croaking out, "thanks."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Haliel Lightsong

I am the Light of My Soul.

Marian Hawke

"I couldn't-- I remembered-- I needed to stop but I couldn't get that out of my mouth and I--"
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Haliel Lightsong

Haliel's eyes narrow, then she takes a knee. Reaching out, she cups Marian's cheek. "You're safe. I'm safe. I won't let you be harmed, okay?"
I am the Light of My Soul.

Marian Hawke

Marian nods, resting her cheek in Lightsong's hand. "Yess'm."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Haliel Lightsong

"Can you explain what went wrong?" Haliel asks gently, rubbing her face with a thumb.
I am the Light of My Soul.

Marian Hawke

"I don't know. My tail was just... there. And I couldn't get it to stop. I remembered doing things with Tanna, I needed a moment, and it just... wouldn't stop."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Haliel Lightsong

Wouldn't stop? But she clearly, deeply wanted it to. This is more than just subconscious control. "Does it do that often? Do things you really don't want? Or even just things you know you weren't considering?"
I am the Light of My Soul.

Marian Hawke

"All the time. I have no idea how to make it behave."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Haliel Lightsong

"Hmmm. Will you trust me?" Haliel asks quietly. "That I won't hurt you? I have an idea but I can't explain it."
I am the Light of My Soul.

Marian Hawke

Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Haliel Lightsong

"Close your eyes," Haliel says gently, standing back up. Okay. Make it clear but as silent as possible. She waits until Marian obeys, then draws her sword. With a pulse of effort, the sword blazes with light as the spark of divinity in her soul embuses it with anti-sceleratis magic. Stepping back a little, she glares at the tail. Instead of calling out the challenge, the paladin shouts it as strongly as she can in her mind, the flowing glyph of Bastion's Last Mercy forming over the tail. Instantly, the tail whips around Marian's body, twining itself around her wings as best it can to make it nearly impossible to strike it without hitting another part of Marian.

"Well, that was interesting," Haliel says, eyes wide.
I am the Light of My Soul.

Marian Hawke

Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.
