Marian Hawke

"Better. I had a nice walk." Marian smiles.
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Helene Dakesh

Helene, meanwhile, grins at Varric, moving to take his hand gently. "We have much news. We should gather and disseminate said news. But this one missed Varric greatly."
"Explain. In detail, please and thank you."

Varric

He takes it firmly, a smile in his eyes if not on his lips. "News is good. Glad to hear it from you." The emphasis on the pronoun is slight, but there.

Helene Dakesh

Still holding Varric's hand, Helene ushers the group to the fire pit, each taking a seat in their accustomed places.

"First and foremost, I regret to inform Marian Hawke that her mother has passed on."
"Explain. In detail, please and thank you."

Marian Hawke

Marian starts. "She... what? Mother is... what?"
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Haliel Lightsong

Haliel hisses softly, then wraps an arm around Marian's shoulders. "Deep breath, amata," she murmurs. "Deep breath."
I am the Light of My Soul.

Marian Hawke

"How? When?" demands Marian.
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Helene Dakesh

Helene hesitates, shifting a little. "The cause appears to be suicide. Shortly after we fled Nyra. Carver is now the Light."
"Explain. In detail, please and thank you."

Varric

"Well shite," Varric says slowly. "Wait, why did they go back? When?"

Helene Dakesh

"This one was unable to get close, but this one understands that Captain Aveline Vallen and Roland are the strongest supporters of Carver's lighthood, and suspects that they had much to do with the return. The family has once more taken up residence in the Amell estate, and are planning a funeral shortly. This one hurried back to inform Marian in case she wished to attend."
"Explain. In detail, please and thank you."

Marian Hawke

"There's no way," says Marian, her voice low but intense. "There's no way my mother killed herself. There's no way."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Zevran

"Vallen? Bright's Vallen of the guard?" At Helene's confirmation, Zevran whistles softly. "That is well for them then. I heard much of her during my time in Nyra. She is truly one of Vangal's; loyal, protective, noble, staid, righteous and unyielding." He smirks a little. "More than once did I hear her name cursed for foiling one illicit plan or another."
Life without Passion is just another form of Slavery.

Haliel Lightsong

"Can we pause a moment," Haliel orders as she shifts to pull Marian closer. "Hey, look at me? Marian."
I am the Light of My Soul.

Marian Hawke

Marian tugs free of Lightsong, her wings flaring up as if to flee. "There's no way. She would never. There must have been -- she must have been--"
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Zevran

"Given what we know, who she was involved with, it would not be so out of thought that she was, ah, made to do such a thing," Zevran suggests. "I was his most skilled, but far from his only pet killer. And many of his others were," he grimaces, "more suited for such tasks."
Life without Passion is just another form of Slavery.
