Go Down

Bethany

Bethany stares for a long, awkward moment. Then licks her lips. Oh sweet and tender Ciren, those legs. I just want to dive between then and ohgodsshe'stalkingtomepayattention! ''I- I- that is- ummm. Wow. I mean.'' She sucks in a deep breath, shaking her head. ''But I cannot go home, beautiful protector! I... have business here, in Coalside.'' I do? Fuck!

Shisou

"No you don't," she says, flatly. "Unless you call being--" Gods, is she even sixteen? Stop scaring her and sound more noble.

"What will happen here is not for the likes of you, child. Go home."

Bethany

''But I have to-'' She swallows hard, then finishes with sudden inspiration, ''find my cat. Sweetie. She- she went missing this morning and Mother says she shalln't look any longer.'' Not entirely a lie. I am looking for pussy. Gods Beth, that's a terrible joke. And you mustn't laugh right now!

Tethras Clan

Behind her, the air lets slip a nearly silent sigh. I know exactly what you are thinking right now, Beth. Terrible girl...
<e> Honesty. Openness. Trust. <dw>Stabbed in the gut! With a sword!

Shisou

Inwardly, Shiori groans, imagining rubbing at her temples. Really? That's what i'm doing tonight, fate? This bullshit?

"Fine. I will find your cat and return her to you. What does she look like?"

Bethany

And somehow I didn't see that coming. Probably because I was staring at her legs, admittedly. ''Umm. She has... black fur. With white patches on her legs. But her feet are black. She's very... shy, tries to stay out of sight,'' she adds. ''And she's gorgeous.''

Shisou

"Grand," she says. "Let me walk you home, then I'll get to looking."

Bethany

Hmm. That might be fine... we can chat and get to know each other on the way- fuck. Home. Errr. Okay, I can figure this out. Hmm. Oh! Jazzy's house. Need to do some serious fast talking to explain why I'm dressed like this but... could work. Or maybe I can slip around back and pretend to sneak until she leaves? ''Well... Do you promise to look for my cat? She's very dear to me.'' Have to remember to buy a cat.

"On my honor as the Midnight Princess." Would it be bad if I just bought her another cat?

Bethany

''And she was so graceful,'' Bethany rhapsodizes, sighting as she leans against the door to her twin's inner bed chamber. ''Not just how she walked or even moved- though the way her fingers nearly stroked the air was... whew! But also her every word and deed. She honestly, truly, seemed to care about my missing cat. I'll be buying a cat tomorrow by the way. Black, with little white backs on her legs. Anyway. Ciren's heaving bosom, Car, she was gorgeous.'' She taken off the skirt, blouse and corset, swapping them for a silk robe over her knickers. Which, alas, had gone unseen the whole night by any save Zevran when she changed. Which nice and all but nothing he's not see, felt and tasted before.

"'m glad," says Carol. Bethany's twin was ready for bed, in her long, baggy nightgown; she'd crawled under the blanket already, not that she tried to argue when Beth had showed up. Not that she often argued.

She is glad, though. And doubly glad that she can't see Beth's face. Her identical twin was often so radiant, so happy. It almost hurt to look at her. Their faces had small, subtle differences after all these years; Carol kept her hair short, a little above her shoulders, ever since that time she tried to hack it all off and mother had her spanked by the governess. It helped, a little, that Beth kept hers longer. Made them less identical.

It still hurt to see that look of glee and elation, to recall how long it had been since she felt anything of the sort.

I must feel it when i'm with my beau, she reasons. I  must look that way near him. She doesn't care to look in mirrors much anymore, so it's hard to tell.

"Don't get caught," she adds, rolling onto her back to stare up at the ceiling, where she's long-since painted stars.

Bethany

Bethany fights a sigh, glad that Car can't see her through the closed door. ''Yeah, of course not. Not going to risk getting sent away again.'' The season that Mother stuffed me in that temple was... horrid. I never want to go back there or be apart from my twin again. Not ever. ''You... you want to go out with me tomorrow? To look at cats?''

Carver Amell

No. but I should. Beth worries.

Beth being worried is, thankfully, one of the few things that can stir Carol to action reliably. That's part of why That Summer was so bad. Nobody in her family knew quite how close they'd come to losing her, she tells herself, though at times she wonders if Beth knew through their twin bond. Certainly she'd been the one to catch Carol's self-harming, and the one to put a stop to it.

It's been too long. You need to answer. Carol sighs, closing her eyes. "Yeah. Sure."

Bethany

All the moisture seems to have dried up out of Beth's mouth, forcing her to swallow a few times before she can speak. Almost two full minutes for her to reply. A really bad night. Gods. I need to ask Zevran to watch her again. I feel sick dong that but... I can't not. I can't risk losing my twin. ''Cool. You should get a cat too. Maybe a kitten to play with. Or an older tom, if you want someone more, uh... confident, I guess? Just a thought, you should see if any of them jump out at you.'' Eyes closed, she rests her head against the door.

Carver Amell

The pause is briefer this time, before Carol speaks. "I'd like that," she says, and her tone is surprisingly tender -- better than the flat tone she usually has this time of night. I'd prefer a dog, but a cat is acceptable.
