"Didn't have to. Gamlen gave them bad info when they took me. Said it was best for the whole family I keep my mouth shut."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Varric

Varric snorts, gesturing his understanding. "Real class act, your family. Here's to hoping your sibs managed to keep some decency."

Marian Hawke

She shrugs a shoulder. "Doesn't sound like it. Beth sounds-- I'm hoping it's grief."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Varric

"Anyway. We still kind of need to tell them," Varric says not unkindly.

Marian Hawke

She makes a small, whimpering noise of frustration. "She's going to be pissed. Misinformation is like, her biggest pet peeve."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Varric

"Blame your uncle. She can understand having to listen to orders and such. But now that it's relevant, you're telling Seeker what they need to know."

Marian Hawke

"She's also going to hate that I'm, ah, how should I put it... not on the pure straight path toward knowledge."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Varric

"You mean learning alternative skill sets in order to explore alternative data banks?"

Marian Hawke

"Uh. Sure." She shudders. "I got such a chewing out last time..."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Varric

"Well... can you blame her? You could have bunked with Lightsong and instead..."

Marian Hawke

She lets out a long breath. "I guess," she says, sullenly. No, I really couldn't have.
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Varric

"Present your opposing data," the dwarf prompts her.

Marian Hawke

"You've met her," she says. "I don't know. I need more... Space, sometimes."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Varric

Would have thought you'd be used to it, working and living with Seeker. "She can be a bit much, granted. Still better than that cave," he says bluntly. "Or paying rent."

Marian Hawke

She winces at that last. "Was hoping you didn't hear that," she mutters in Elven.
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.
