Carver Amell

"You're a knight?" asks Carol, eyes intent. "Ladies can be knighted?"

Marian Hawke

uh oh. Bells winces. "Ah, yes, women can be knights, but it is... highly irregular for a noble lady to do so," she cautions.
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Carver Amell

Carol's face falls, and her eyes go bleak, distant. "I see," she whispers, her voice a mere scrape, as she looks down at her lap. One more thing I can't do.

Haliel Lightsong

"But not impossible, given that my grandfather was both noble and a cleric and I am the heir. Very minor, and only of Glaley, where I have never even been but I could technically be named Dame Lightsong. I prefer Ray or Bright however." Lightsong smiles warmly at Carol. "You have a good build for it. Strong shoulders, broad chest. And you seem to have muscle on you already. Lean muscle, not bulk, so you would struggle to learn to wear full plate like I do, but chain, sword and a shield like mine own would not be out of your reach for long." Leaning in, she whispers, "Bells never cared for politics and such things. Neither do I, truth be told, but it is part of the job."
I am the Light of My Soul.

Bethany

Beth has frowned at the byplay, but settles at the explanation. If I could forget about our so precious titles, I would as well. "Car danced for years- ballet. And she still does her exercises." Mostly. When she can make herself move around.

Carver Amell

Carol nods. "I would love to learn sword play," she whispers, shivering. To state what she wants so blatently is almost painful -- but this is a dream she already knows can never be.

Marian blinks. She's noble too? Everyone but me, huh? I bet even Varric is some kind of prince in Orzammar.
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Haliel Lightsong

Lightsong rises to her feet and looks around. "Stand up," she orders Carol firmly. See how she holds a blade with a few swings, then maybe find some sticks suitable for a few drills.
I am the Light of My Soul.

Carver Amell

Carol swallows, getting to her feet without complaint.

Marian Hawke

Marian frowns a little, thinking of Seeker Helene. That's dangerous -- you shouldn't teach your kids to obey any firm voice like that. What if someone tried to lure her away or enslave her?
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Bethany

Beth blinks, half rising herself. "Wait, what?"

Haliel Lightsong

Drawling her blade- and not even glancing at the footman that tenses up, finally, at the armed stranger that approached his charges- the paladin twists it around to offer the hilt to Carol. "My grandfather's blade," she says softly. "Two hundred and seventy years old, wielded never in war and always in compassion, it has never taken a life. Give it a swing."
I am the Light of My Soul.

Carver Amell

Carol stares at it, hands trembling. "I-- I can't--" she whispers, eyes wide, unable to tear her gaze away but unable to reach for it.

Haliel Lightsong

"Please," Lightsong asks, her own voice just as low. "It is no danger."
I am the Light of My Soul.

Bethany

No..? "Oh! It's enchanted with.. Umm. Pacifism or... something?"
