Marian Hawke

Bells is silent for a moment. Finally, she says quietly, "Carol seems happy. I.. She deserves to be happy, I think. She doesn't seem like she often is."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Bethany

"No... I suppose not. Thank you." Beth sighs, the sound slipping out of her despite herself. Worse, it catches, the sound having just a hint of sob.

Marian Hawke

Bells reaches a hand out to Beth, though she stops short of touching her. "Are you.. Are things... alright?" she asks, softly. "I won't tell anyone, promise."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Bethany

Beth opens her mouth to answer, then hesitates, doubt and wariness blooming in her eyes until she hides it. "Thank you, that's very kind of you. But things are fine. I mean, everyone has troubles in the life, right?" No. I've seen her smiling at Jadan, and she's new. I... hmm. I should ask Zevran to follow her next time he visits. See how she acts when she thinks herself alone. "You and your sister both- though I suppose that makes sense, given..." She gestures at Haliel, likely indicating the symbols.

Marian Hawke

"Truth be told, I'm Alydran," she says, quietly. "It's caused some... difficulties, in our relationship. But we manage. I just.. I know what it's like to feel alone, and you're both good girls. I'd hate to think... well, nevermind, I know I'm overstepping my bounds. My apologies."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Bethany

"Alydran?" Beth asks, going with that topic instead of the more personal. "I assume that is why you both came here after Draslina?" Nyra does have the best magical research in all of the Outlands after all. Runis is best for field experience, but nowhere else trumps Nyra's universities on arcana.

Marian Hawke

"More or less," she agrees. "I was born in Nyra, believe it or not. Haven't been here in forever, but I wanted to see it again, as an adult. My sister was very accomodating."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Bethany

Born here? Haliel had given the impression that- oh. That makes sense. Different mothers. One aasimar, one human perhaps? That is... an all too familiar story. A part of Beth curdles with bitterness and jealousy that the two half-siblings get along. That they were allowed to be together and get along. "I see. When did you leave?"

Marian Hawke

"I was too small to know the city well," she admits. "Mother sent me to Draslina where sister was."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Haliel Lightsong

"Good, good. You have solid instincts," Lightsong comments brightly, grinning at Carol. "Good sense of balance, good stance, decent upper body strength and grip. Your sense of... body-awareness, of being able to coordinate with your own limbs is a little weak, but that can be worked on. All in all, I would be very pleased to have you as a student."
I am the Light of My Soul.

Bethany

Mother sent you? As in...  "So... Haliel raised you then?" she asks curiously, glancing over to the aasimar. The motherly type, hmm?

Marian Hawke

"Something like that," she agrees. "Of course I lived at school, but my parents were nowhere nearby, only Haliel."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Carver Amell

Carol blushes. "Th-thank you," she stammers, the first she's spoken since they began.

Bethany

"That... that must have been terribly lonely." I couldn't imagine not living with ma'win. Being sent away from Mother would be lovely, but... would I take that wager? Make the deal? Free to live on my own... but not have Car nearby?

Marian Hawke

"Yes," Marian says softly, looking off into the distance. "It was, at times. But I learned to adapt. We merikos are very resourceful, you know."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.
