Marian Hawke

"She doesn't... understand deceit," admits Bells. "She expects everyone to be on the up and up."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Bethany

Lovely. The cute new dog trainer with the hot sister is a racist. Least she's not horrid with it. "Must be nice. Living that way. I gather you know more about deceit then?"

Marian Hawke

"Sure." She shrugs. "Merikosi like me have to learn a lot about deceit. But I suppose you don't have to worry about that."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Bethany

"Blood has nothing to do with who needs to lie," Beth says, voice cooling a bit.

Marian Hawke

Says the human. "Doesn't it? My apologies, Lady zi'Amell. I will remember what my betters have told me," she says, with a curtsey.
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Haliel Lightsong

"Alright, enough practice swings." Lightsong studies Carol's outfit, pondering. Can't very well fight or even run around in that... hmm. "Care to see how you feel with sword and shield both? I have some homework for you as well."
I am the Light of My Soul.

Bethany

Bethany rolls her eyes. "How droll. Think as you like, miss Bells." She looks away, her next words more released than directed at Marian or anyone else. "Everyone lies. All the time and for so many reasons."

Marian Hawke

"Haliel doesn't," she says, sharply.
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Carver Amell

"Yes, ma'am," says Carol softly.

Haliel Lightsong

Stepping over to face Carol, the aasimar offers an encouraging smile. "You can say no if you wish. I am enjoying teaching you but I wish little more than your wellbeing right now."
I am the Light of My Soul.

Bethany

Woah. The older girl's harshly spoken reply jars Beth, getting her attention back with a snap. "Protective much?"

Marian Hawke

Marian almost snaps back, but stills her tongue a moment. "Think what you wish of me, but I assure you, Haliel is a better person than all of us here combined. I may be an impertinent bastard, but she is Bastion's mercy made flesh, as her parents were."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Carver Amell

"No, I-- I want to-- please," stammers Carol.

Haliel Lightsong

Her smile broadens and warms even more as Lightsong unslings her shield. "I'm pleased then. Now, try and hold these both. Try a few grips and I'll help you find the best. That is part of your homework, in fact. Working on your grip. I have a few simple exercises you can do, most of them not needing any special equipment."
I am the Light of My Soul.

Bethany

Beth blinks, taking a half step back. "Uhhh. Okay?" she asks carefully.
