The Amell Legacy: Transgressions

[Varric]

"Mmmh." A neutral look, a slow sip of his tea.

[Marian Hawke]

Marian watches him, silent. I'm not going to crack.

[Varric]

Slooow sip of tea. Leans back against the desk. Studies her more.

[Marian Hawke]

She stares, meeting his eyes, steely faced and -- "I haven't been sleeping," she blurts, looking away.

[Varric]

Never stare-off with a dwarf. Long-lived and made of stone. "Oh? What weighs on you?"

[Marian Hawke]

"Nothing. I just, sometimes get that way. I've always been a delicate sleeper."

[Varric]

"Seemed fine on the way up here," Varric observes idly. 

[Marian Hawke]

"All the walking did me good, I guess. I had a bout of bad sleep before we left."

[Varric]

You mean after the rent attempt? "I see. What're you doing about it? Lack of sleep dulls the mind and you can't afford that."

[Marian Hawke]

She shrugs. "Like I said, this happens a lot. I'm used to it. I cope."

[Varric]

"How so?" 

[Marian Hawke]

"Drink a lot of tea and power through. It'll ease off eventually."

[Varric]

"I could mix up a tonic to help you, you know, actually sleep," Varric offers dryly.

[Marian Hawke]

"Could you? I'd appreciate it. Well, for tomorrow night, I need to research tonight."

[Varric]

"Yeah, it isn't a hard brew. Less than an hour and I can read for more than half it it while things simmer or rest," Varric replies with a shrug.
