The Amell Legacy: Transgressions

Go Down

Carver Amell

"I can't, Beth," she whispers. "I can't leave Jadan. If you can run, go. I'll be alright."

Bethany

Then... then I need to make you see. Make you realize what he is. "...I understand. I..." Beth licks her lips, trying to decide if... No. If I can't trust my twin, then... "Ray Lightsong is my Plan A. No-one but you really know about her. So no-one will think to check or watch her. Plan B is Shan. Which... would work, almost certainly but.. would be complicated, to say the least. Plan C is... less ideal. But yeah. I'm not going back there, one way or the other. So don't worry about me, alright?."

Carver Amell

She nods. "Alright. Please be safe," she whispers. "Okay?"

Bethany

Safe is... possibly not in the cards. I need to figure out a way to reveal what Jadan is really like. But for tonight... "Actually... I was... I mean... sleep-over? I... I miss you."

Carver Amell

"Yeah," whispers Carol. "I'd like that."

GamesMaster

The next few weeks pass in much the same manner: when she can, Beth sneaks off to meet with Lightsong, getting to know the paladin so she can make her plans in secret. When she can, she drags along Carol, giving her twin time with Hunter away from prying eyes and massive expectations.

When she can, Carol slips off to be with Jadan; when she can, Beth slips off to get time with her invisible friend. Both cope in their own ways with the pressure upon them.

Leandra doesn't let up with her threats against Beth. Several times, Carol has to think fast to keep her twin in the good zone; more than once, Jadan implies that Beth needs to keep herself in line or he'll have her sent away. As she plans for the upcoming wedding, Leandra goes to a fortune-teller to find out if there's anything in the way of her plans, anything that might throw them astray.

And that's where it all goes amiss.

Lightsong doesn't see Beth, Carol, or Bells at the park one afternoon -- not unheard of, but unusual. When Bells doesn't come to meet her at the end of the block to be walked home, however, it is perhaps time to worry...

Haliel Lightsong

This isn't right. It was tense the first few days but Marian hasn't, ah, stood me up once. This isn't right. She would at least send word or something. Leave a note. Something. Taking a slow breath, Lightsong tries to think this through. Taking a ribbon, she ties it to a nearby post, etching a symbol to Alydra on it before rushing off to the temple. Seeker Helene should be able to help.

Helene Dakesh

Surprising nobody, Helene is back to her research today, diving deep into the nuances of linguistic play that she feels might hold the secrets of-- oh it's Lightsong.

She's eaten today, at least, thanks in no small part to Varric, who's spent much of the day decoding some messages on the other side of the table in Helene's alcove. Thankfully, he knows better than to interrupt her research, letting her achieve the deep focus she craves, right up until Lightsong comes bursting in and distracts her.

"Yes?" she says, slightly irritated, as she glances up to the aasimar.
"Explain. In detail, please and thank you."

Haliel Lightsong

"Has Marian been by today? Or sent word? She wasn't at the park or waiting for me after work and I'm becoming very worried." Her delivery is rapid and she barely seems to notice Helene's annoyance.
I am the Light of My Soul.

Helene Dakesh

"No. This one has had no word."

So saying, Helene turns her attention once more to her notes. Here, this word I assumed was from the Celestial root, but if it was actually in Abyssal, a sort of portmanteau of terms here...
"Explain. In detail, please and thank you."

Haliel Lightsong

"..." Lightsong stares a moment, mouth slightly agape. "But... are you not- Seeker Helene?"
I am the Light of My Soul.

Helene Dakesh

Helene flinches slightly, distracted yet again, her quill dripping a bit onto her parchment. "Yes?"
"Explain. In detail, please and thank you."

Haliel Lightsong

"...Marian is missing. There have been several attempts to kill her. And we know she has enemies here. Are you not- how are you not worried?" she demands.
I am the Light of My Soul.

Helene Dakesh

"This one can do nothing," says Helene simply. "This one has research to perform. This one is certain Marian will turn up when she grows tired of the game she is playing."
"Explain. In detail, please and thank you."

Haliel Lightsong

"Game? She is trying to save her family!" Lightsong sucks in a breath, glancing to the door as Varric enters.
I am the Light of My Soul.
