[Shisou]

And sure enough, a moment later, Soushi-hime drops from a rooftop, heading over to the girls quickly. "I wasn't sure it was safe," she admits. "Can you get her legs? We can carry her, I think." 

They can, it turns out. It's quite a walk to Waters; once they get underway and get into the hang of walking together, the vigilante asks, "What happened to her?"

[Bethany]

Bethany hesitates. "She mixed tonics. I mean, she takes some normally but she- I was-" She swallows. "I gave her a potion to delay poison's effects, and a restoration potion, a weak one, but..." As they walk, Soushi-hime might notice a few... issues. Beth's dress, a very rich looking house dress, is misbuttoned from the waist up. Her neck has a handprint, her forehead a fresh bruise and cut and she's clearly been crying. Those are... not good signs. But they story they tell would lead one to think it should be her in a walking faint, not the other girl.

[Shisou]

Soushi-hime doesn't speak of them directly, not at first; she nods, shifting Carol's weight a little, considering her options. 

"I don't think you should go back there. Either of you," she says, slowly. "I can't take you in -- my hideout is little more than a closet -- but we should find somewhere for you to go."

[Bethany]

Beth glances to the side, then sighs. "...yeah. I... I know someone at the temple. She... she offered to help, before, though... Hopefully it'll extend to lodgings. Paladin of Bastion, so..." If I can't trust her, or she can't help me, then I have to go to Shannon and take whatever devil's bargain her father will insist on. 

[Shisou]

"Good, good," says Soushi-hime, nodding. "If you want to pause a moment, um, and maybe fix your buttons... it might be a good idea," she adds, hesitantly. 

[Bethany]

"Fix-"Beth flushes, her jaw spasming. "...no. I want to be sure Car is helped before- before the potion wears off. She... Nothing is more important than my twin." Her free hand tightens into fist, painfully so. "I'll be fine. He-" Her throat closes and she can't finish as she fights off the phantom feel of his fingers.

[Shisou]

"Hey," says Soushi-Hime softly. "It's... it's alright. Whoever it was, you can tell me. I can make sure justice is done, while you and your twin stay safe. That's what I'm here for."

[Bethany]

No, you probably can't. Not with someone in his position, with his power and connections. "Thank you but... it's safer for you if you don't know."

[Shisou]

"The  Midnight Princess, Soushi-hime, cares nothing for her own safety, only the safety of the citizens who are depending on her," says Soushi-hime, in her more delcarative, bard-like tone.

"Something like that," mutters Carbonne, from Soushi-hime's shoulder.

[Bethany]

Beth snorts a little, a flicker of humor coming despite everything. "No spirit of theatre or presentation in your friend there, huh?"

[Shisou]

"Carbonne? No, xe's a grumpy old... something. Lizard. Spirit. Whatever the spirit equivalent of a grumpy old man is."

"A wonderful amazing guide who has saved your life on countless occasions?" offers Carbonne.

"That too," agrees the Midnight Princess.

[Bethany]

"Sounds handy," Beth says softly as thoughts of Zevran intrude on the far too brief moment of mirth. "Can... shit. We might be followed, can you...?" Zevran won't do it, not actually, but I have no doubt there are others that Jadan can tap. Such as the guard.

[Shisou]

"If we get attacked, I'll fight off our attackers," assures the Midnight Princess.

[Bethany]

Beth winces. "...they might be the guard?" she says weakly. "We're underage and... might be reported as runaways?"

[Shisou]

"Then I'll calmly explain the situation, at length, while you two slip away," says Soushi-hime, but it's clear she's a little uncomfortable. "Usually I have more mobility to avoid the guard altogether, but you're not going back to that house if I can help it."
