Carver Amell

"Jadan lo--"

Carol breaks off, then, letting out a low whimper, shuddering as she embraces the pup. If he loved me, why would he fuck my sister? If she loved me, why would she fuck him? No. They're both using me. Laughing at me behind my back. They think i'm too stupid to notice and damn them, they were right.

"Leave me alone."

Haliel Lightsong

Tears begin to drip down Beth's face as she stares at her twin's back in horror. As she struggles for words, Lightsong moves next to her to wrap an arm around her. "You should wash up. Miss Brianne will show you to the baths. I'll talk with Miss Carol." Beth stares dully at the paladin before giving a shallow shallow, awkward nod.
I am the Light of My Soul.

Carver Amell

I don't want to be 'talked to'. I want to be left alone so I can die in peace.

Haliel Lightsong

There's some more murmuring, as Beth is gathered up and shown out of the room, then Lightsong sits on the side of the bed. "Carol? I know you're awake, and that you can hear me. Do you want something to eat? Or to wash your face? Maybe get changed?"
I am the Light of My Soul.

Carver Amell

"Leave me alone," she mutters.

Haliel Lightsong

Lightsong is quiet a moment. "I think... I think that you've been left alone far too often in the past, Miss Carol. That really doesn't seem to be working."
I am the Light of My Soul.

Carver Amell

"Being alone was better than this," she mutters.

Haliel Lightsong

"Better than what?" Lightsong asks gently. "You've been through an awful lot in the last few days. What troubles you the most?"
I am the Light of My Soul.

Carver Amell

"How could she," whispers Carol. "After all this time, after everything, how could she betray me like this?"

Haliel Lightsong

Lightsong frowns, then sighs. Bells. "I know she wanted to tell you. She was clearly torn up about not telling you but she didn't want to make you have to set your heart against itself."
I am the Light of My Soul.

Carver Amell

"She's ruined everything," whispers Carol. "I have nothing left, not even an exit. I-- I just want it to end."

Haliel Lightsong

"Yes you do. You still have Beth. I know it hurts now, but she still loves you. And you have me, and your sword lessons. You have that adorable little scamp curled up against. He's been pining for you. He likes Marian, sure, and he's friendly to Seeker Helene and I, but he wanted you." Lighsong laughs softly. "He refuses to play fetch, you know? That was your game with him. Tug, chase, and some rough-and-tumble, yes, a little, but not fetch."
I am the Light of My Soul.

Carver Amell

Carol, anger spent, lapses into silence, stroking Hunter's head. She doesn't understand. How can you ever trust someone again after that? how can I go on? I had two things to live for and Beth's taken them both from me in one fell swoop. How can I trust she won't take Hunter from me either?

Haliel Lightsong

Frowning slightly, Lightsong takes a slight risk by reaching out to gently run her fingers though Carol's hair. "Have hope, Miss Carol. I know that the water seems dark and unforgiving, but there is light and life above you. You are not alone. We will help you reach the surface. Things will get better." Hunter stirs from his puppy dreams, wiggling around until he can sniff the young woman's face ecstatically.
I am the Light of My Soul.

Carver Amell

"They don't," says Carol, her voice flat and dull. "They never get better. Even the tonics only help a little. I just want to rest. Is that so wrong? I just want to stop. If I am to drown let me drown, and cease this struggling."
