[Helene Dakesh]

"They are sporadic," admits Helene. "This one has noticed an increase when this one goes for treatments, but otherwise, there are busy years and less busy years."

[Varric]

Interesting... "Any idea on why that is?" Have a bit of a theory myself, but let's see what they have to say first.

[Helene Dakesh]

Helene shakes their head. "Perhaps the treatment clears the mind, allowing a more pure focus."

[Varric]

"Hmmm. Does it start near the beginning, the middle, do they taper off immediately afterwards..?"

[Helene Dakesh]

"This one's records become erratic before this one goes for treatment," Helene admits. "But during that period perhaps, or perhaps during the treatment period. The effect persists for some time after the treatment period, for some months or up to a year."

[Varric]

Huh. Not entirely the answer I was expecting. "Do the visions have a pattern in the subject or intended target ?"

[Helene Dakesh]

A headshake. "This one has not noticed such."

[Varric]

Wait. KISS. "Have you ever just, asked? You know above."

[Helene Dakesh]

"No," says Helene, but slowly, hesitantly. "This one has not had much luck asking about the process by which this one receives visions," they admit.

[Varric]

"Suppose that makes a bit of sense. Do you get the impression that they mind you asking questions? I would kind of assume that, of all deities, They wouldn't mind someone asking questions. Even ones They can't answer."

[Helene Dakesh]

Helene nods. "This one has always found Alydra accommodating of questions, but this one has come to understand certain areas that are off-limits for questions."

[Varric]

"If you wouldn't mind, maybe toss that question upwards? Ask Them why they give more visions when you're at the center. Or if that's one you've already asked... " He hesitates a moment, not sure how direct he should be. "Ask whether you get more visions during treatment for the same reason that Graybeard interceded with the temple wall?"

[Helene Dakesh]

Helene blinks. "This one does not understand the reference."

[Varric]

"They will," he explains. "I'm hoping that the fact that you don't understand it, that the question is coming from somebody else, might give them some more leeway to answer."

[Helene Dakesh]

Helene nods. "Shall this one ask immediately?"
