The Amell Legacy: Transgressions

[Varric]

"Self-eval! Risk! Questionable!"

[Helene Dakesh]

"This one enumerated the risks ahead of time," protests Helene. "This one was aware."

[Varric]

"You impressively understated the degree of risk! Switching from ritual to spell is bad enough, but a sixty percent success rate is not safe!"

[Bethany]

Blinking sleepily, Beth peers at the couple. Huh. Did not realize they were an item. Kind of sweet. Nerd love. Little weird about her looking like a kid though.

[Helene Dakesh]

"Failure would not have caused permanent damage!" they remind him. "And-- and this one wanted-- this one wanted to do it. To contact this one's deity under this one's own power, outside of a ritual setting... This one wanted to prove that this one could do so."

[Varric]

"Not being permanent doesn't make it any easier to see you hurt," Varric growls.

[Helene Dakesh]

Helene pauses, looking at Varric oddly. "You were... worried for this one? This one would recover. This one has faith. But... you worried anyway?" 

[Varric]

"Constantly." Varric pauses, then sighs. "Alright, that's not entirely fair or accurate. Faith is great, don't get me wrong, you impress the hells out of me, but  I wish you would remember to put yourself before service at least sometimes."

[Helene Dakesh]

"This one... impresses you?" 

Her tone is soft, but there's a genuine smile on her face. "This one... approves of such sentiment." 

[Varric]

Varric raises an eyebrow. "You approve of me being impressed or of people in general being impressed?"

[Helene Dakesh]

"This one..."

She blushes, a bit, but pushes on. "This one finds this one's self oddly driven to impress Varric."

[Varric]

Even Varric's stubborn ignorance can't miss that one. "Ah... that's... I- that is-" He clears his throat. "Good job then." He clears his throat again.

[Helene Dakesh]

Helene holds up a hand. "This one understands that-- that such a thing is often connected to-- which is to say, this one does not expect... does not expect anything in return from Varric. This one only... Your esteem is appreciated and more than was expected. That is all I meant."

[Varric]

"Right, right.." One more throat clearing. "Well. You have that. My esteem. I uh... You're a damn fine person. Great oracle, obviously, even better Seeker. Brilliant mind and... loyal. Dedicated. Pleasant to be around."

[Helene Dakesh]

Helene's blush deepens, her blue cheeks darkening. "Thank you," she says politely. "I will treasure your words always."
