Varric

"Like I said, people being more interested in physical appearance at first does seem to be more common. Not just in stories either, had to a bar or tavern in listen to how people talk." He shrugs a little. "Don't really think much about this sort of thing to be honest."

Marian Hawke

"Not beyond girls or guys you mean?"
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Helene Dakesh

Helene blinks, having never considered the idea Varric might be gay.
"Explain. In detail, please and thank you."

Varric

"Uhhh." He clears his throat. Brushes off his pants. Glances around. "Beyond... Vague ideas... that... We were talking about the twins."

Helene Dakesh

Helene blinks, swallowing. Oh. That sounds like he does not wish to tell me, which implies he is not interested in-- no, of course he isn't. I have the body of a child. Of course. "Right. Of course."
"Explain. In detail, please and thank you."

Marian Hawke

Marian frowns. "Huh. You are interested in women, aren't you? I mean, you're not... like me, are you?"
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Varric

Varric scowls. "Does it matter?" He snaps, then hisses softly. "Sorry "

Marian Hawke

Marian's face flashes with hurt before it clears into a sarcastic smile. "Dunno, I've found it matters quite a lot. But maybe I'm doing it wrong."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Helene Dakesh

"This one is curious," says Helene softly, "but any orientation is acceptable."
"Explain. In detail, please and thank you."

Varric

"It's not- I just- I don't like talking about it. With anyone. Or thinking about it, at all," he mutters awkwardly. "Nothing to do with either of you or anything. Just makes me uncomfortable." And he does look at it: shifting about, a lack of eye contact, and his right hand tapping softly on his leg.

Helene Dakesh

"Understood," says Helene. "Privacy is important."
"Explain. In detail, please and thank you."

Marian Hawke

Marian looks away, chastised. "Sorry. I didn't mean to-- I just... I don't know anyone else who's homosexual like me."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Varric

Varric relaxes as they back off the subject. "Isn't your sister? I mean, you did see how she and Soushi-hime we're standing, right?"

Marian Hawke

"She... also likes men," says Marian, hesitantly. "There are people like that, who can dally with girls but still get married."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Varric

"And you aren't? Never been attracted to any male?" Varric asks curiously, a part of his mind noting that while this is still not his preferred topic, it's far less unpleasant than when the subject of the topic was himself.
