Varric

"Some cold water of practicality then? So what kind of cover story should we go for with our band of misfits and weirdos? Figure Storm can do the merikos aasimar trick to be Shiny's little sis, same as Princess. You and Perky can be.... merikos dwarves maybe? My nieces? And Seeker..." Ne going as a kid, maybe as the adopted sibling of one of them, would be the wise choice but.... "Tutor maybe?"

Marian Hawke

"Which one's Storm now?" wonders Marian, blinking.
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Varric

"Stormy like dark clouds and damp moods, Perky because Hormones would be mean and Princess because Hime would be too on the nose."

Marian Hawke

Marian makes a face. "I suppose," she says with a shrug. "Can we disguise Seeker as a really skinny dwarf, or, a kender or something? Goblin maybe?"
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Varric

"Gnome would be best given nir skin tone," he replies after a few seconds of thought.

Helene Dakesh

"I-- I would prefer not," ne says, nir voice a bare whisper.
"Explain. In detail, please and thank you."

Marian Hawke

Marian studies Helene, then nods. "A gnome would work, too. Would need to dye that hair, though, gnomes never match."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Varric

Varric holds up his hand, giving Marian a look askance. "Seeker, what's up?"

Helene Dakesh

"This one would... This one knows it is not fair, but this one would prefer not to be reminded of... of Seeker Renaud," ne whispers.
"Explain. In detail, please and thank you."

Varric

"Is gnome okay then?" he asks carefully, hand tightening as if gripping a stock.

Helene Dakesh

"Explain. In detail, please and thank you."

Marian Hawke

"Great, gnome it is!" chirps Marian, too cheerfully.
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Varric

"Nothing wrong with wanting to avoid reminders of fresh trauma," the dwarf observes clinically. "So we have a plan, we can fine-tune it at midday and get into roles."

Marian Hawke

"Agreed," says Marian, relieved to have dodged this conversation once more.
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Act 2

Trousers, Carol finds, are strangely intimate, clinging to her legs as she walks, outlining the shape for all to see. Less revealing than soushi-hime's skirts, but tighter than even the most modern skirts in Nyra.

And yet... revealing or not, intimate or not, it's a relief to be free of the elaborate gowns that have been Carol's usual garments. In a way, it feels as though she is free of the expectations of her position, free of the necessity of being a moral, upstanding person. Free of the plans her mother has for her life.

Seeking more of this freedom, as the others pitch camp just outside Goldengreen, Carol takes Hunter for a walk, using a bit of rope as a lead. Unused to making the harness that helps spread his pulling power across his whole chest, she fumbles one of the knots, and almost as soon as they're out of sight of the camp, Hunter catches a scent and pulls free. Carol plunges after him, keenly aware that she has only a knife at her belt to protect her.
