Varric scowls. "Yeah, about that... I was just in town before you came back and that girl Storms cut up has definitely spread the word. I'm expecting whatever they have as guards in this little treehouse village within the hour."

Marian Hawke

"Right, got it, gathering the troops," says Marian quickly.

Varric

"Probably too late to get away, certainly too late to do it clean. But yeah, having us all here would be best, I suspect. I'm heading to Storms now to get the whole story out of her and come up with a plan."

Marian Hawke

"Okay. Any idea where Sh-- Shelly and Betsy went?"

Varric

"Listen for moans," Varric says, rolling his eyes and waving a hand off to a small cluster of berry bushes.

Marian Hawke

Marian shudders. "Oh, ew, that's my sister," she groans. "Fine, fine. I'll grab a stick so I don't walk into anything."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

"If it helps, I don't think they're past kissing as yet," Varric offers apologetically.  He hesitates, then adds quieter, "I think she's trying to... add distance to what Ja-
Ja did to her."

Marian Hawke

"They say the best way to get over something is to get under someone, right?" says Marian, breezily, clearly unwilling to dwell on the topic much.

Varric gives her a cool look. "I've heard 'the best way to get through hard times is to get through a bottle of hard stuff.'" He doesn't sound like he agrees with the sentiment though...

Marian Hawke

"That's dumb. Eight percent of mortals have a tendency for alcoholism."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Varric

Varric raises an eyebrow, waiting for Marian to finishing adding.

Marian Hawke

She flushes. "Recommending copious drinking is counterproductive and can cause a health crisis."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Varric

"Addiction is addiction. To what doesn't matter."

Marian Hawke

"Okay?" she says, slowly. "It would also be dumb to recommend drugs in times of crisis."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Varric

The dwarf sighs. "Sex changes brain chemistry too. People can be addicted to anything. Drugs sure but also gambling, sex, violence, power, books, danger... Whatever." He shrugs.
