Merrill

Merrill bites her lips a little, then asks hesitantly, "Wh-What's it like? L-love?"

Carver Amell

"It... when I'm not near him, I want to be. I'd do anything to make him happy."

Merrill

The elf nod slowly, expression thoughtful. "Wh-what about y-you?"

Carver Amell

"I.. I thought-- no, I know he loves me back. He's tender, gentle, kind. He goes out of his way to make me happy."

Merrill

"B-But..." Merrill looks away. "He..."

Carver Amell

"I don't understand it," she whispers. "And I can't speak to him, to understand what happened."

Merrill

Merrill frowns, eyes crossing as she tries to think. "M-Maybe... m-maybe you c-could... find out an-nother w-w-way? D-d-divination?"

Carver Amell

Carol hesitates again. "They can cast it but.... but... He's the only man who's made me feel this way. Made me think it was okay to be a girl. I can't..."

Merrill

"But... If-if you f-feel happ-ppier as a b-boy anyw-way..."

Carver Amell

"I..."

She takes a deep breath, lets it out. "I don't know," she whispers. "I just don't. I don't understand why he'd do that to Beth. I don't understand why she hates me, why she doesn't want me to be happy, why she refused to just let things be. I don't understand why this darkness keeps overtaking me, why I can't just be happy. I don't understand anything."

Merrill

"...c-can you...  ask her?" He's definitely back in Nyra and it's really hard to know why you feel sad about things unless it's an obvious thing and then it's easy to know but that's not an obvious thing that she sad about unless it really is just about the being or not being a boy thing but... His sister I think is here so... That much we can maybe solve?

Carver Amell

"I... she hates me," she admits. "But we did, ask her. A little. Under a Truthing. She... I guess she goaded him into it. Tried to get him to hurt her so I'd leave him."

Merrill

"That sssseems... d-dangerous? Wh-why d-did she d-d-do that?"

Carver Amell

"Because she hates him more than she loves me," whispers Carol.

Merrill

His attention diverted from the bowl of stew that Merrill had foolishly set on the ground next to her, Hunter lets out a wild flurry of yips and barks. With that warning, the two possibly friends can hear voices nearing the camp. "...that's R-Roland," Merril mumbles.
