Bethany

"I... Umm. No," Beth mumbles. "I- I know accounting and such, some legalities about business. But no... details, of, uh, most any of it."

Varric

"Might want to work at someone else's place for a bit- like at least five years- in various positions before you even think of owning your own. Unless you plan on having someone else do the work as you learn. Or just do the work."

Marian Hawke

"Most nobles would. And with three girlfriends-- partners, you're likely to be too busy for a business anyway. Especially if your sister's the Light."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Bethany

"Three-" Beth frowns, looking up again. "Umm. Zevran is male? And not a boyfriend... And... Three?"

Marian Hawke

"This Zev and your Shiori and don't pretend you're not with that zi'Marassi as well," she says, scowling. "And that's before you figure out which of you is producing heirs and with whom. If you're planning multiple marriages already..."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Varric

Mulitp- the hells is wrong with people? Gods that sounds terrible. Who wou- (nope, stop thinking about it). Shaking his head slightly, he focuses on the tibits of intel being dropped.

Bethany

"We're not-" Bethany rubs her temple. "Zev and I are good friends, probably best friends. And yes, lovers But we're not exclusive or anything close to that. It's just fun." She blushes a little. "A lot of fun. And same with Shan, but... less, if only because it can be really hard to get time together as Leandra disapproves. Shiori... way too knew to be sure. Girlfriend seems... like it might fit though. Which is... kind of weird to think about, to be honest. Never dated before, not really."

Marian Hawke

"Are you even taking precautions?" groans Marian.
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Bethany

"Pre- oh! Yes, of course. I'm wearing a ring, it prevents pregnancies and those kinds of diseases," Beth says with a deep flush. "And I've only... been with Zev that way anyway."

Varric

She's not wearing a ring..? And her earings are just stubs, non-magical ones at that. The dwarf devotes a great deal of his brain to thinking about magical items because he could really do with a topic change.

Marian Hawke

She reddens faintly. "Good. Good. You can't just... Well, it's your life I suppose."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Bethany

"Thank you," Beth mumbles, feeling awkward and uncomfortable. And a bit pleased, for some reason she couldn't name for the life of her. "I- I guess you have a good point about... the other stuff. If... I still think I could do it. But I need, umm, well, a plan of some kind might be good, yeah?" She laughs weakly.

Marian Hawke

"Quite," she says dryly. "I'm just worried, Beth. I'm always just worried. I'm not going to try and control you. It's just... I'm not stupid, and I'm not a child. I do know things you haven't had a chance to learn. Please try to trust me? At least a little?"
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Bethany

"I do," Beth says quickly, voice soft. "I wouldn't have told you all that if I didn't trust you." She sucks her bottom lip into her mouth, a flirtatious gesture substituting for her normal thinking gesture. "But... I guess I do sort of... half expect you to try and take control."

Marian Hawke

"How?" she asks, bitterly. "How could I make you do anything? I'm older but you're nearly fully grown, and you probably weigh as much as me given you're human. I'm not a fighter. I'm not your mother. I have maybe a few silver to rub together. If you won't take my advice all I can do is watch you make mistakes."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.
