Go Down

Haliel Lightsong

"What?" Haliel stares at Marian. "He just said you had his eyes and smile."
I am the Light of My Soul.

Marian Hawke

She looks away, blushing faintly. "I just... don't want to be a third wheel. That's all."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Bethany

"Marian," Beth says softly. "You seriously need to get over your shit. I get that you got shit on from several great heights but... Please stop hurting you and us for it? Please?"

Marian Hawke

"Everyone can see you two are close," she snaps. "I just thought you might want some privacy. Forgive me for trying to-- nevermind. Clearly. I'll try to have abandonment issues instead next time."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Bethany

Beth's eyes snap with fire. "Oh, so it's fine for you to have issues but if I get upset because my long-lost sister wants to run off to face the person that terrifies me the most in the world, then I'm being some distrustful bitch?"

NPCs

Roland winces. "You fight like Malcolm did," he says to Marian. "Beth is more like her mother in that regards evidently."
We are many. We are legion. We are... NPCs!

Marian Hawke

"Given you already have your own father, uncle, mother, house full of servants and gowns, boyfriend, girlfriend, everything you ever wanted, yes, it's more fucking understandable I'd have issues!" snarls Marian.
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Bethany

"The fuck? The only thing I have you don't is some fucking compassion! I don't have parents or uncles! Do you see any servants servant or gowns! And for the last Ciren be damed time, I don't have a boyfriend! Gods! I am never sharing a secret with you again! All you've done  is stab me with them!" By the time she finishes, Beth is on her feet and screaming.

Marian Hawke

"oh yes, you're the soul of compassion -- like you ever cared about me! About what I''e been through, about anything besides what I can do for you!"
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

NPCs

A sharp series of thuds and taps on the table is accompanied by a rapid line of singsong nonsense- which cuts Beth of before she gets more than, "I've tried to talk to-"

She glares daggers at Roland, who simply smiles blandly amidst the.sphere of silence he'd created. After a moment, she crosses her arms and stalks away in a huff towards the room Carver and Merrill are in.

Marian Hawke

Marian, on the other hand, storms for the front door to the inn. Fuck this. Fuck all of this.
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Haliel Lightsong

Leaving Haliel behind, heart breaking. "Was that necessary?" She asks after the spell wears off.
I am the Light of My Soul.

"Maybe, maybe not. But I figured best to let their tempers cool before either or both of them said something they couldn't take back." He considers that a second, then admits, "anything else they couldn't take back that is."

Sagging, the paladin nods weakly. "I suppose so... I just... They're both so hurting and... Marian just won't trust anyone. Even herself. She thinks so little of her own worth, she expects to be left behind and hated and I just don't know how to reach her. Every time I think she's starting to maybe reach out...this happens. And Miss Beth has a sharp temper, once a fight starts she has no restraint. I don't know her as well..."

"Some people can't be helped. Other won't be helped. Girl's got a lot of rage in her. Beth too. Closer to the surface but less dark for that." Roland sighs. "Hard life, with Mal dying I wager. Neither of them seem to be doing well. The boy neither, though he seems to on a good path now."

After a moment, he gets to his feet. "Well, I owe it to Mal to at least try. Might be that a mostly stranger will have better luck with bashing their way past her defenses." With a nod, he ambles towards the door. Give her a bit to cool down afore I catch her, I think. But follow close, just in case. No idea I'd sucide is the sort of thing that comes in the blood but after what Mal said about that cold bitch he knocked up...Best to be safe. Oh Mal... I shouldn't have let you make that trip alone. Just four hours, done it myself a dozen times but....
