The Amell Legacy: Transgressions

[Helene Dakesh]

"The dream did not elaborate on whose enemies they were, but dark skin was implicated. Likely drow or duergar. Mortal enemies, not supernatural ones, but details were obscured. We will not recognize them on sight -- the visuals of the dream implied this -- but they are sent to target us specifically. What color are Bright Lightsong's eyes?"

[Varric]

Varric doesn't even have to think, replying, "sapphire- not blue, actual faceted, gem-color."

[Helene Dakesh]

Helene notes this down. "And Jassinth?"

[Varric]

That takes a second longerl he hasn't seen him everyday fir weeks after all. "Basic brown. Almost like bauxite but less red. Flat and boring really." He frowns. Unremarkable... Almost artfully so...

[Helene Dakesh]

"Understood," ne says, noting this down. "Identity of enemy remains unknown, as does their target. This one had hoped that one of us had eyes matching the description -- this one often fails to note eye color -- but it is not so. This one's eyes are distinctive, and Varric's eyes are hazel, with a lighter ring around the interior. This one's apprentice's eyes are dark brown, almost black. The eyes in the dream were none of the above. This one did not witness the color of Jadan's eyes," ne realizes, frowning.

[Varric]

Amused despite the circumstances that ne knows his and Marian's eye colors despite nir protestations about this observational skills, Varric smilies briefly. "What colors are in play?"

[Helene Dakesh]

Helene shivers a bit. "Grey," they report, factually. "A cold grey, like the frozen tundras in Stygia, pitiless and without remorse. This one assumes the intensity was increased to send the message that said enemies are dangerous and devoid of empathy."

[Varric]

Varric hisses softly. "Duegar then. Drow have pure white or red eyes. Well, some nobles have purple or red pupils in a white orb. Sign of arcane talent or something."

[Helene Dakesh]

Helene nods. "Understood. If and when we are set upon by Duergar, this one will interrogate one or more of the corpses to determine the ultimate assailant. It will take this one some time, as it must be done through ritual, but in the meantime we shall be wary and not fall to ambush. It may occur at night -- the dream took place in darkness, but it may be simply that we will be in the Underdark proper."

[Varric]

"Dark as a symbol, makes sense. Any other details? Method maybe?"

[Helene Dakesh]

"Smothering," says Helene, frowning. "I think it was a symbol for being caught unawares and defenseless. That the enemy was able to get so close as to attempt to smother this one with its bare hand implies that the watcher was insufficient to guard this one during sleep."

[Varric]

Varric's narrow sharply. "You personally are the target?" He demands.

[Helene Dakesh]

"Unclear. The dream was in first person and too brief to determine if this one was this one or another one during the dream. It may be the case."

[Varric]

Varric scowls, then nods curtly. "Alright. We'll do a four plus one watch rotation," he declares. So one of them on watch plus... Him?

[Helene Dakesh]

"Understood." Helene frowns, but keeps nir worry to nemself; Varric must have magic or some other sleep aid ready, if he's volunteering. I will trust his judgement -- but verify tomorrow that he is not overtaxed.
