Marian Hawke

"Element-- I can't have summoned it. I don't know how. Need a ritual."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Haliel Lightsong

"It was you," Haliel says firmly. "I think that's what- what hurt you so badly. Doing it without."
I am the Light of My Soul.

Varric

"It is possible, technically," Varric puts in. "Ritual, incantations, components... none of that is, when you get done to it, an absolute requirement. Think of it like building a castle. Technically, you could do it with just hands and muscle. You don't actually need chisels, pulleys or what have you. It would just normally take a couple dozen millenia and do horrible damage to your body to pull off."

Marian Hawke

Marian winces. "My mind was-- it was racing so fast, I -- I just-- I think I just reached for... something... and tried to force it into being. No matrix."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Varric

Haliel Lightsong

"Yes, well, please come up with a different idea should such a thing occur again," Haliel says firmly, gripping Marian's hand even tighter. "I-the world- my world- would be so much the poorer without you in it, beloved."
I am the Light of My Soul.

Marian Hawke

Marian grips Haliel's hand back, tight. "Did I... damage something?" she asks, still whispering. "In my brain? Only-- I couldn't just-- you weren't winning, Haliel, and the world needs you. I need you. I... I've been a fool."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Haliel Lightsong

And I need you, silly woman. "Daughter Minerva said..." Haliel hesitates only a second but those present are a rather observant bunch. "That I caught whatever it was you did in time to prevent any serious damage. She wanted to do more checks once you were awake and thus using all of your brain but..."
I am the Light of My Soul.

Marian Hawke

"Gods," whispers Marian. "All three of you -- you keep trying to help me even though I'm... I'm difficult. I thought I'd lost Seeker and Varric. I thought I was going to lose Haliel. And I-- I couldn't let that happen. You're all such good people, so good to me, and I just keep fucking it up. I'm sorry."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Helene Dakesh

Helene smiles, brushing away a tear from the corner of nir eye.
"Explain. In detail, please and thank you."

Varric

"What else did the good Daughter say?" Varric asks idly, eyes intent on Lightsong's profile, ignoring the emotional stuff as he tends to do- far too often.

Haliel Lightsong

He doesn't miss the wince Lightsong tries to hide. "Umm. Not- nothing of relevance. Just... some... comments on my, umm, about how I healed Marian is all. It's not important right now."
I am the Light of My Soul.

Marian Hawke

"...what did you do?" rasps Marian. If she got hurt because of me...
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Haliel Lightsong

"I healed you." Seeing her expression, Haliel gives her the best stern look she can muster. "I'm fine. No lasting harm, I promise." No lasting harm, but lasting something I suppose. "Just focus on you for a bit, okay?"
I am the Light of My Soul.

Marian Hawke

"Rather not," she rasps. "Head hurts like a bitch."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.
