Marian Hawke

She makes a face. "I don't-- I've never-- I don't think I'm a boy, but how would I know? I had bigger problems."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Bethany

"Wellllll.... we- and by we I mean you and Varric- could brew that potion Carver took before the ritual," Bethany offers slowly.

Marian Hawke

She shakes her head. "Not until my headaches are under control. It's-- that's not what I meant anyway. I just mean... I'm more of a mess than I seem."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Bethany

"I think that applies to all of us," Beth says dryly.

Marian Hawke

"Sure," says Marian, rubbing at her temples.
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Bethany

"Headache?" Beth asks worriedly.

Marian Hawke

"Just the usual sort," she says quickly. "I'm a little tired."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Bethany

"You wanna go inside, out of the sun or have some willow tea?" Beth asks, relaxing but still still solicitous.

Marian Hawke

"No, no, it's fine." She smiles, turning to glance at Beth as she does.
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Bethany

Beth smiles back, taking her seat. "Thank you. For... for listening. And for opening up a bit. It was nice." Her smile wavers a little. "Kind of hurts, rather scary and a bit awkward, but... nice. So thanks."

Marian Hawke

"Sure," she says, rubbing the back of her neck. She glances at the other bundle in Beth's lap, then, and asks, hesitantly, "Sorry, I think I-- we got sidetracked?"
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Bethany

"Huh? Oh, right! I pulled out a few things before I passed it all over to Varric to sell and stuff," Beth says, biting her lip. "And- well, here." So saying, she thrusts the bundle at Marian, the cloth falling away to reveal a pair of rings and a slim necklace. The necklace is a twist of braided gold and silver, etched with stars. One of the rings is a simple flat steel band with shields embossed on it. The other is pure platinum studded with green gems... and the Amell family crest. "Those are yours too."

Marian Hawke

Marian stares at the items. "Those.. I can't take that, is that the Light ring?"
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Bethany

"No, just a family ring," Beth says with a shrug. "The other ring is magic, it repels attacks. Not a great ward, but decent. The necklace protects from toxins and poisons. The family ring is just... expensive really. Everyone in the family is supposed to have one so..."

Marian Hawke

"Beth... I'm not an Amell," she says, gently. "You've already given me more than enough."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.
