"...I d-d-don't h-have any m-money," the elf mumbles with muted shame.

Carver Amell

"I do. and-- and the man usually pays anyway. So it's no trouble."

Merrill

"...he does?" Merrill asks, a pang of hurt clouding her eyes for a moment. Stupid. It shouldn't hurt anymore, even if it's worse than the bad I knew it was.

Carver Amell

"Sure. I hear in Glaley, women don't even need money -- the men pay for everything."

And what if they don't have a man? Or if the man they do have is... Without money and no forest to live in... "Oh," she repeats. "What d-do I d-do? F-For the d-date?" Her lips curve almost without her permission, her happiness forcing the gesture despite her wariness.

Carver Amell

"uh. Well. I'll walk you back to our place and we can get changed into um, something nicer? And then, uh, we go on the date and uh... talk... and stuff?"

Merrill

Merrill nods, wishing she had paid more attention yesterday. But I didn't ever think I would need to know about dating. And those squirrels were so cute playing together... Wait, didn't Roland say something about... "Do you l-like my hair l-loose or... up or..?" she asks shyly. I don't really have a lot of dresses to pick from but I can at least style my hair the way he prefers.

Carver Amell

"uh... how about a braid? I liked the braid you had when we met," he adds, shyly.

Merrill

"I can do a braid," Merrill says eagerly, grateful he wants her to wear it in a way she knows how. "Elder Marethari taught m-me when I was little."

Carver Amell

"Good," he says, nodding. "cool. Um, is there anything that I can... wear or..."

Merrill

Merrill considers it for a moment, then nods. "Your sword," she says softly. "I... it's n-nice. You... p-protecting me." She bites her lip, unconsciously mimicking Beth. "...I like flowers?"

Carver Amell

He nods. "Then I'll get you flowers."

He plants a kiss on her cheek before pulling back. "Ready?"

Merrill

Merrill blushes at his kiss. Then, in a fit of daring, pops up on her toes to kiss his. Pulling back, she studies him carefully to see his reaction.

Carver Amell

He grins at her, pride showing in his dark eyes. "Let's go, m'lady."

Merrill

Lady! Blushing even more, Merrill nods. "After y-you, good sir," she replies. echoing a bard tale she heard when she was younger and still welcome in the tavern.
