Aveline Vallen

"I... see. I will admit I would not have thought of that, ah, challenge you face," she admits. I have a pavitra cat over for tea. When was the last time I had anyone over for tea outside of a courtesy cup during a performance review? Which I hardly think counts. "So... what, ah, what brings you here, exactly?"

Vigilant

"Why, yourself, of course. When I heard that the Bright's Aveline was in town, I came as fast as I could. I only apologize that your business took you so far afield from your Duty."

Aveline Vallen

The Bright's Aveline? What? "I- that is, I meant to inquire as to why you were here. In this village." Not touching that other... no.

Vigilant

"Ah." Here his whiskers droop a touch. "I found myself in close proximity to innocents, but unfortunately, the help they required was not the help I was capable of bestowing, save in one, glorious moment in which I was called to do battle. I accompanied them this far, and have seen their situation much improved."

Aveline Vallen

"Innocents?" Vallen asks, her own Vangal influenced soul rousing. "Is there something I can do to assist?"

Vigilant

"Ah. Perhaps. Our business seems to overlap, in that regard. You see, I was assisting the Amell Twins..."

Vallen stares a moment. "I... see. Could you... it has become... very, very clear that the information I was given and able to gather in Nyra is... deeply lacking. Could you... assist in helping me understand them?" she asks, though there's more than a hint of order in the tone. "The older- boy made it clear that he would rather die than return. I need to understand why."

Vigilant

"Yes, of course, Bright's Vallen. I only apologize that I did not think to begin with that. Of course I can assist. My time with them began shortly before their time in Nyra ended -- I had come to find myself in chains, but Bethany purchased me, believing me to be a mortal feline of some ilk. I saw no need to disabuse her of that notion at first, preferring to size up the situation rather than to act right away. I was able to quickly ascertain the power structure in the household: the mother, Leandra zi'Amell, was the figurehead queen of the Amell household, with the financial advisor, Jadan Delasso, as the puppetmaster advisor to the throne. Carol -- for such as I knew him then -- was simply wasting away with melancholy, and Beth bore the brunt of the blame for any misdeeds or ill fortune that afflicted the household."

"Shortly after my purchase, a ball was held for the twins' fifteenth birthday..."

By the time Vigile finishes his masterful retelling of the Sage of the zi'Amells, he's acquired the jug of cream entirely for himself. After all, brandy does not mix well with dairy really, especially in tea. Draining her cup, the paladin rises and goes to the counter, bracing herself there. It sounds like she's muttering to herself very softly, then the volume suddenly spikes. "-rot riddled, cancerous sore of ineptitude and indifference!" she finishes in a low snarl.

Vigilant

"Very well put, Bright's Vallen," agrees Vigilant. "You can understand why the prospect of returning to Nyra so frightened young Carver. Unfortunately, he has taken to his bed at the time present, though I am given to understand that he is faring much better than previous episodes."

Aveline Vallen

"Understood," Vallen says in a hard voice. "Can- can you pass on my... apologies for our poor first encounter, and... and ask if they would be amendable to having a meal with me, so we can try again? I will give my word that I will not use force or deceit to return them to Nyra. Nor to another's hand for the same."

Vigilant

"Of course." He inclines his head, respectfully. "It may also alleviate some measure of fear when I can truthfully tell them you did not know of their predicament. I have verified for myself that you serve our mutual benefactor, and as such, your word is above reproach."

"Thank you, Bright's His-paws-are-silent-but-his-growl-is-fierce-in-defense-of-the-righteous," Vallen says softly, still gripping the counter as if holding herself in place. Her celestial is very good, she managed to get his name almost perfectly. Strangely... growly however. Sterner than normal, regardless of tone. Feels rather appropriate to a Bright's pavitra however.

Vigilant

"May I be of further assistance?" he asks, leaping into the air and padding closer to her.

Aveline Vallen

"I don't suppose you'd be up for a spar? Or at least a run or something? I have a great need to be... active," Vallen says tiredly.
