The Amell Legacy: Transgressions

[Carver Amell]

"N-next time? What next time?"

[Merrill]

"...with Jass?" Merrill says, confused about why he's confused.

[Carver Amell]

"What? I said I can't do that again!" He sounds surprised, not angry, at least.

[Merrill]

"What? No, you- you said it was girly but then I said you aren't so there's no reason not to?" She sounds confused, not upset, so there's also that.

[Carver Amell]

"Just because you don't see it that way doesn't mean it's not. You're -- you're one of the few people I can trust to see me as a boy no matter what I do. Most people won't. I-- I don't, sometimes."

[Merrill]

"So... we don't... tell people? People shouldn't be asking about that sort of thing anyway." Roland said so. It's rude to ask about other people's fucking.

[Carver Amell]

Carver is quiet for a long moment. Then, softer, barely above a whisper, he adds, "People like Jass."

[Merrill]

"People... like him or people like Jass? I mean... he's popular or... similar?"

[Carver Amell]

"He might... he might think of me as... I can't, Merrill, I just can't."

[Merrill]

"What if I talk to him? If he thinks of you as a girl even though you're not then I don't want to be friends with him anymore," Merrill says firmly, very bluntly declaring her hierarchy of loyalty.

[Carver Amell]

"Please don't," whispers Carver. "This is-- this is something I have to learn how to deal with. It's going to come up, a lot, I think."

[Merrill]

"Deal with it how?"

[Carver Amell]

"I mean-- I don't know," he groans. "I was just going to not do girly things. Let people get used to me for a while."

[Merrill]

"But..." She frowns. "If you act... ashamed and stuff... then..."

[Carver Amell]

"What?"
