Varric

"Uhh." Varric stares blankly. "I'll have to ask Helene, I haven't studied outsiders nearly as much as I evidently should have."

Marian Hawke

"I mean, they don't usually grow. They usually start out fully grown. So half-fiends are... different."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Varric

"I figured ne'd know about tieflings too," he explains. "But regardless, I'd much rather you explain that sort of thing to him. I mean, the fuck would Helene or I be able to offer?"

Marian Hawke

"The fuck do I have to offer? I'm a fuck-up. That's all I do."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Varric

"I think Ricky would dispute that. Or at least, he will eventually, thanks to you giving him a chance to, you know, exist and all."

Marian Hawke

"I should have died," she admits. "But yet again, I find myself here, with no purpose, no future, not even my own body..."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Varric

"Still at least half your body. And... well, own it. Own the change. Not all bad, right? Fireproof, immune to toxins, resistant to electricity and acid, wings, increased lifespan, generally tougher and stronger body..." Varric shrugs a little. "Not saying it's an even trade, but it's not all bad."

Marian Hawke

Marian is quiet for a moment. Finally, she says quietly, "It's like her body."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Varric

"Like-- oh. Right." Varric clear his throat. "I can see how that's painful. Can you... there's magic that can tweak that sort of thing. Not sure how much leeway you have, but you could make some changes. It's not really a solid match for a lilin's body already."

Marian Hawke

"I could try," she admits. "The tail is the worst part, anyway."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Varric

Varric glances at the aforementioned limb, then looks away with a flush when it sees it bobbing in and out from between her legs suggestively. "Err, do you not, umm, are you meaning to... Why is it doing that?"

Marian Hawke

"Doing... Gods!" She reaches down and yanks the thing out. "Sorry, sorry. I can't control it, like, at all. If my attention drifts, it tries to rape whoever's nearby. I-- I'm really not a good godparent."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Varric

Varric frowns as he thinks on that explanation. That doesn't make much sense (which is becoming the norm for my life). I get (eew) that she's basically constantly aroused but that still doesn't fit for being just subconscious actions. "We checked you over but we didn't focus on your tail specifically. Might be something Helene and I can do over the next couple of days."

Marian Hawke

"I mean, if you can cut it off, that'd be great..."
Honesty. Openness. Trust. Not being stabbed in the gut with a sword.

Varric

"I was thinking more along the lines of analysis and understanding."
