Adonis's eyes widen in fear. "No," he whispers. "Tell me it's not..."

The patchy cat puts out a paw, placing it on Adonis' shoulder for comfort. "Let her tell," he says, his voice more thickly accented than his friend's.

Solras, The Protector

Solras nods, Adonis knows.

"A raid. Tonight. A round up. And it will be nasty, a relative of a Light is pushing it."

Solras gives a brief rundown of the planned raid, enough information for Adonis to try to make sure there are no cats to be caught in the net. Finally she makes to stand and depart.

"Make good use of this information. Please."

"Wait," he says quickly. "Miki, go warn my-- the elder. Solras, Daughter of Umdor. Thank you. I-- I hate to ask more, but do you know who it is they're looking for? Anything about them?"

Solras, The Protector

Solras shakes her head sadly "The description is hopelessly vague. No name, male, long fur and light colored. they'll be going after anyone who might match that, and if they fail to find anyone that matches i fear the order will be given to grab anyone at all."

"Still, long fur helps. I'll ask around. I have a few names in mind. Thank you. Thank you so much. You have no idea what this means to my tribe."

Solras, The Protector

Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch nods and stands to leave.

"May your gods smile upon you and keep you safe."

And with that said She walks slowly out of the bar, suppressing the shakes as best she can. She knows what she did was the right thing, but it was also disobeying an order, and she likes the Sargent too.

Wylde

Wylde meets her at the station with a relieved smile as they pull on their regulation heavy armor for the first time. "Hey," she says, a little uncertain how they'll interact now.

Solras, The Protector

"Hello, Are you ready for this?" The greeting is normal enough, a hint of worry possibly. That would be expected given what is planned for tonight, but that damned monotone makes it hard to read when she speaks in Common. She seems put together well enough, but her chain mail rattles slightly, nerves for sure. But nerves because of what she did to disobey orders, or is it because of....?

Wylde

"Ready as I'll ever be," admits Wylde, glancing up as Sgt Vallen enters the locker room. "Heads up."

Aveline Vallen

Vallen's eyes sweep the room, locking on the pair quickly. A flicker of relief crosses her face before it's hidden by her normal stoic work mask. She strides over to the pair, getting close enough that a long murmur won't reach anyone else in the busy locker room. "Good, you're both on time. I have special assignments for both of you."
The Law cannot protect anyone, if it does not apply to everyone.

Solras, The Protector

Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch snaps to attention and salutes. Rather more stiffly than necessary. "Orders Ma-am?"

Wylde

Wylde perks up a bit more, focus clearly on Aveline.

Aveline Vallen

"I mentioned the fire that occurred during the last raid. That was the easy concern to bring up; cost the guard a lot of coin, made the Lords look bad. The four known rapes and two murders won't be acknowledged," she says grimly, though her expression never budges. "I've done my best to divide up guards with-- with better than average character among the teams. The two of you are the only ones I have available for C-7. And the Corporal leading your squad is," her eyes flash a little, "such that I am concerned. Do what you can to ensure the honor of the guard is maintained." She fixes them each with a hard look. "Honor, not image. Not reputation. Understood?"
The Law cannot protect anyone, if it does not apply to everyone.

Solras, The Protector

"So that I am clear about this." Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch starts to ask slowly "What measure am I to use to judge what would violate the honor of the guard, and what measures are you approving me to use to accomplish such protection." She manages to phrase this as more of a "i know I'm on thin ice here so show me where the line is" than a "I'm not sure your measure of Honor satisfies mine" sort of thing. Which is honestly impressive given her habitual speech patterns.

Wylde

Wylde swallows, hard. Rapes? Murders? This is supposed to be routine Guard work, not a free-for-all. Did I make the wrong decision earlier? Should I have tried to prevent this?
