Go Down

Solras, The Protector

"OOOFH!" Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch exclaims as the wind is knocked out of her. She lays there stunned under her partner for a few moments as the though 'this is not an entirely unpleasant feeling' drifts through her mind, only chased out by the sound of giggling cats.  Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch's eyebrows snap together in a scowl with a practically audible KLANG!

Wylde

Wylde scrambles to her feet, awkwardly, shaking herself like a wet dog. "Ugh," she grunts. We've certainly lost him by now. Fleabag.

"You alright there?"

Solras, The Protector

Staggering to her feet Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch gasps her breath back into her lungs. Looking around she glares at the shadows.

"We're needed elsewhere. We shall go there. When we return we will not be so easily evaded."

Apparently, yes, she is okay.... either that or she's taking the stereotype of the stoic dwarf to unnecessary new heights.

Wylde

"Agreed," growls Wylde. "We don't have time for small-time theives like that."

By the time their shift finishes, the skies have opened up, dumping an uncomfortable amount of water onto the guards during their patrol. Nevertheless, they finish out their route before heading back to the coalside guardhouse, changing rapidly out of their damp uniforms into clean, civilian outfits.

Wylde, finishing faster, trots across the little locker room with one blanket wrapped around her shoulders and another in her hand. She holds the second one out to her partner with a grimace. "At least we're dry now, right?"

Solras, The Protector

For a long moment it looks like Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch might refuse the blanket, then pragmatism wins over stoicism and she takes the towel.

"I'll never get used to that." she states "Water falling from above whenever it wants seems poor civic planning."

Wylde

Wylde chuckles as if the dwarf's made a joke. "Tell me about it. Ugh. Days like this are for staying indoors and cuddling, not patrolling the worst chunk of city since they made Glaley."

Solras, The Protector

"You call that cesspit of humanity a city?" Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch scoffs "I suggest you readjust your definitions."

Wylde

Wylde laughs again, moving to get the door for her partner. "Truth. At least we don't have to patrol there, eh?"

Solras, The Protector

"We guard. We protect those that cannot protect themselves. If we patrolled Glaley we would never be short of work."

It's unclear if Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch is speaking in the third person, or including her partner in the assertion. She rarely, if ever, speaks of herself in the singular when talking about her job, and many of her coworkers probably think she is incapable, or refuses to, refer to herself in the singular, but not Wylde, not after that night in the bar after work some weeks ago. The beer does make the exact details hard to remember but she's positive that Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch referred to herself as I during their... conversation? argument?... Nah. probably not argument. ... Probably.

Wylde

"Your words to Alydra's books," agrees Wylde. The guardswoman doesn't worship Alydra -- Solras is pretty sure of that, anyway, given she's pretty sure she spotted Uryll's symbol peeking out between her buttons at least once, though she's not positive -- but it's common enough to call upon the goddess of knowledge and inspiration to indicate that something is particularly true or inspired.

She steps through the door behind Solras and stops, spying their commander coming around the corner. Alright. Act natural. She probably didn't even notice.

Solras, The Protector

Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch does her best to avoid showing that she has noticed the Commander, with the typical stereotypical display of Dwarven Subtly. In other words she completely fails to act natural, in a way that makes it pretty obvious she was attempting to.

Nice Job there Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch... Nice job.

Aveline Vallen

Aveline doesn't look away from the other sergeant she's speaking to- instead, she simply pitches a clipboard at Wylde. Thankfully, there's a tie around the bottom so it flies mostly true. Unthankfully, it's aimed at her head.
The Law cannot protect anyone, if it does not apply to everyone.

Wylde

Wylde gives a yelp, ducking as best she can. Hells.

"Work on your reflexes, Private," Sgt. Vallen barks, the other sergeant breaking out into snickers. "And if those are filled out, filed and signed for- properly- by end of lunch, you'll have plenty of time to finish over the next three days of unpaid leave." As the clipboard hits the wall and lands on the ground, it does so with a fair clatter and whump. Must be at least thirty, forty sheets on there...

Wylde

Wylde gives a small, whimper-like groan as she squats to pick up the clipboard. Fuck. I'm made. "Yes ma'am," she mutters. Overbearing bitch.
