Go Down

Dog

Dog considers the offering for a moment, then grunts softly. The catfolk child darts over the canine, snatches up the sweetmeat and then quickly scurries back to the protection of their guardian. He in turn sniffs the food, then grunts again, prompting the child to devour it happily.

Wylde

"H-healing!" she stammers out, then takes a deep breath. "What I mean is -- my friend and I are hurt, we wanted to pay you for healing?"

Solras, The Protector

Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch raises an eyebrow at that. She intends to obey the cap- Sargent. Her bruises will mean nothing if they are magicked away. a learning opportunity lost.

Wylde of course can make her own choice in the matter. Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch can only choos for Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch.

Nodding to the dog and pointedly ignoring Wylde's words she thanks the dog "Thank you. May <dw>he-that-digs-below</dw> smile on you and bless you and yours with prosperity."

Dog

The canine mets Solras's gaze as she speaks, then bows his head at the end of the prayer. He... totally understood that, didn't he?

Father Lelldorin

"I see," the priest says, then sighs. "Dog, stop playing with our guests. You are spending far too much time with the children of late, you're regressing to puppyhood rapidly." The canine looks affronted, tossing a hurt look at the human. "Yes, you, and I mean it. Let Privates Wylde and Solras inside- they are petitioners now." With a nod to Wyle, he steps back so the doorway is clear for them to enter.

Wylde

Wylde steps into the sanctuary, looking around. For such a small temple, it's unusual to have so many holy symbols; there are huge temples dedicated to the whole pantheon, and there are often small shrines in large temples in places where there's just not enough of a given religion to dedicate a whole building to it. But this sanctuary is fairly small, cozy, and yet there are fifteen shrines in alcoves along the walls, with fifteen different holy symbols in them.

Pantheism is an interesting topic. A true pantheist, one who worships all seveteen of the heptad in equal numbers, is both incredibly rare and playing a dangerous game. Who knows which deity will claim them after they die? It is more common to worship only a broad stroke of the spectrum; for example, all the Bright gods, or all the Bright and Twilight. More common still is to worship a bunch of deities but one of them more so, making that one your patron even as you pay respects to all the others. And, it's incredibly rare outside of Paladins to only ever pay homage to one deity; an Astean won't think twice about burning some incense to Teiris before going on a long journey, for example, or putting a symbol of Ciren in the nursery to help protect their babe.

Looking around the small, homey temple, all the Bright gods are accounted for, and the Twilight. Of the Dark, Zanon and Kato have shrines; next to Uryll's shrine, there is also a shrine to a god Solras isn't likely to recognize: Bharnerol, the God of Catfolk.

Solras, The Protector

", Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of th-" spills from Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch's mouth on reflex before she is able to interrupt herself. Blushing with self anger she follows Wylde into the building.

Father Lelldorin

"Oh?" the priest asks curiously. "You use the traditional Litany of Lineage naming style? I had thought that well out of favor with all the Free Outland citadels." Huh. Rather well read for a Coalside... anything really. "Rumor seems to have missed that, not that I am surprised to find rumor's knowledge to be incomplete. Regardless, please, have a seat." He gestures at some nearby pews.

Wylde

Wylde moves to sit on a pew, not far from the Uryll shrine, waiting for the others to catch up.

Solras, The Protector

"Technically it's the 'Litany of Accomplishment' style, but the Sargent.... disapproves of that style so I use Lineage as a use-name"

Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch is not happy about this state of affairs, but her monotonic speech impediment hides it... is it a speech impediment if it affects only a single language?

She moves to the same pew as Wylde, sitting far enough away to leave room between them, but close enough to make t clear there is familliarity and friendship between them.

Father Lelldorin

Taking a seat across the aisle- the church is rather cozily built, with just a single person-width gap to walk between the pews-, the priest offers a kind smile. "I am Father Lelldorin, caretaker of this shared church and orphanage. Private Wylde, you mentioned seeking a healer?"
I am lived long enough to know we are all in need of help. Even the gods.

Wylde

"Yes, right. We've both been injured, and the department won't pay for healing since it's kind of my fault. So I was hoping I could pay for healing for me and my friend, so we don't have to suffer."

Solras, The Protector

Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch shakes her head "We'll take our lumps, we will decline healing for this. Wylde can make her own choice in this matter."

That monotone still. Wylde is positive that Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch means well and is passing no judgement but Father Lelldorin will have to be rather perceptive to pick that up.

Wylde

"What? Why?" she asks, looking at Solras. "You'll be less effective, not to mention, ow."

Solras, The Protector

Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch shrugs and winces. Seems she doesn't much care to explain, though knowing her asking again will net an explanation.
