Solras, The Protector

Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch stands and nods "tea would be appreciated. As would talking."

Wylde

"I suppose," says Wylde, getting to her feet as well.

Father Lelldorin

A few minutes later, the pair are seated in a cramped but well-kept kitchen, a plate of shortbread between then and a kettle boiling merrily. The chairs are worn but solid and outfitted with cheap but serviceable padding. The snacks are tasty, the air scented with stew and baking bread. All in all, it's rather nice, save for the dozen or so prepubescent children attempting to spy on the guards with varying but all insufficient degrees of skill. "So tell me about yourself."

Solras, The Protector

Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch by habit looks to Wylde. It's not that she doesn't want to answer the question, rather she feels wylde should answer first as she feels that Wylde's story really is more suitable for telling. Well unless the listener is trying to cure insomnia.

Wylde

"What do you want to know?" asks Wylde, pleasantly. "I'm Wylde Lowall, elder private."

Father Lelldorin

"I am merely attempting to get a measure of you, as rumor and gossip are unreliable judges of character," the priest replies as he eases himself into a chair with a sigh of relief.

Wylde

"Well, uh, I've lived in Nyra since I was fourteen," she says, hesitantly. "I came from a rural village, real rural, you won't have heard of it. Deep in the woods, more a logging camp than a real village. I'm dedicated to Uryll, I love going for jogs through the city at night... really, I'm pretty straightforward."

"Why the guard?" he asks curiously. "Small towns such as you are from rarely have more than an ex-adventurer that moonlights as head of a militia," or posse, depending on their temperment, "at most. An organized guard must have been a strange thing to you."

Wylde

"Oh yeah, it's definitely strange," she laughs. "All the rules -- I'm used to, you do what the boss says, end of story. But it's kind of nice, sometimes. Having that level of organization. Knowing when you're meant to be on patrol and when you're meant to rest. Wish I had more say in it, but at least I'm informed."

Solras, The Protector

Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch smiles and nods, that story is true as far as she knows, and it's definitely more interesting than her story.

She looks ate Father Lelldorin, does he really want to hear her story too? it's a boring one.

Father Lelldorin

Once Wylde finishes, he does, indeed, look over at Solras with a polite amount of curiosity on his face. "And you, Elder Private?"

Solras, The Protector

A shrug from Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch

"I serve the city I reside in. First it was the dwarven city of GoodIron, under the mountains to the west. Then, when the city was shattered I, and all the other survivors, left those ruins, and I ended up here where i once more serve the city, from the greatest to the least, equally."

not the whole story, not even close to the whole story, but.... it is the core of the story and while Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch would rather not tell the rest of it, if she's asked to elaborate..... she will.

Wylde

Wylde makes a sympathetic noise, deep in her throat. "I didn't know you were a refugee -- that's awful! I'm so sorry for your loss."

Solras, The Protector

Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch seems rather nonplussed at that reaction..... she'd told Wylde about the collapse..... hadn't she? She had been pretty certain Wylde had asked about that before....

"It was.... Not unexpected, we knew the collapse was possible months before it happened. We tried to stop it, but our engineers were unable to reinforce the foundations in time."

Father Lelldorin

"A hard beginning to your story," the priest says softly. "May I ask why you came here? To Nyra, specifically? If I recall my geography correctly, the city of Sweetwater is almost two thirds the distance to Goodiron."
