The Midnight Prince

[Rokag]

"....right. Look, just..can we actually talk about this shit seriously tomorrow?" Rokag was still sure something was wrong, but this wasn't something she could figure out right now. And he's still...mostly fine? Maybe he just got hurt or something.

[Shisou]

"I s-s-s-s-s-supp-p-p-pose." Shisou plants a kiss on Rokag's cheek, scoops up Carbonne, bids his wife goodnight, and heads for his own chambers. 

The next day, it seems, their talk is not to be. No sooner do they eat breakfast than Indou announces he's taking Shisou with him for the day, to learn the ropes of working in his pawn shop. By the time Shisou returns at night, he's too tired to talk, and the day after, Indou seems to assume he'll be doing the same thing. 

[Rokag]

Rokag decides that she's GOING to deal with this now. This isn't going to get figured out if she keeps waiting, and she'd be damned if she was going to act like that shit didn't happen. So, in the morning before Shisou could be wisked off to whatever the hells Indou is plotting, she's at his cambers and knocking on the door.

[Shisou]

"G-g-g-g-g-o-o-o-od m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-orn-n-n-n-ing," says Shisou brightly, ushering Rokag into his chambers. "I g-g-g-g-g-got y-y-y-y-you a-an-n-n-n-n-ot-ther p-p-p-p-pres-s-s-sent," he adds, moving to bring her a small unwrapped jewlery box, one covered in gemstones in a pleasing design shaped like a turtle on the top. 

[Rokag]

Rokag blinked, a little surprised at the box. "Um...okay, where did you get this one?" She took the box. "And I needed to talk to you before Indou grabs you for the whole day. What the hells is he even having you do, anyway?"

[Shisou]

"W-w-w-w-working. N-n-n-n-now th-that w-w-w-w-e're m-m-m-m-m-m-arr-r-r-r-ied I n-n-n-n-n-eed a j-j-j-j-j-ob."

[Rokag]

"...okay, but it's Indou. So what does he have you actually doing?" Rokag was sure that Indou was either beating the shit out of Shisou or this was something to embarass him or some shit.

[Shisou]

Shisou raises an eyebrow. "W-w-w-w-w-working."

[Rokag]

"....okay, and what about the rest of the stuff you were doing?" Like hunting for those robed guys. Rokag gave Shisou a weird look. "You sure you don't want me to make sure there's nothing wrong with your head?"

[Shisou]

"I'm f-f-f-f-f-fine."

[Rokag]

"Then what's with the necklaces and now working for Indou and not...are you still doing anything with Carbonne?"

[Shisou]

"C-c-c-c-carb-b-b--bonne h-h-h-h-holds me b-b-b-b-b-ack."

[Rokag]

Rokag raised an eyebrow. "....I mean, xe's stuffy as hell, but he's not THAT bad. And xe's the only reason I didn't go chasing after you when you got attacked."

[Shisou]

"G-g-g-g-g--good. I d-d-d-d-don't w-w-w-w-ant y-y-y-y-ou g-g-g--g-g-g-get-t-t-ting h-h-h--hhurt."

[Rokag]

"And I don't want you to...act like none of that shit matters." Rokag was getting irritated and antsy. "Something IS wrong, Shisou. You can't tell me that it isn't."
